Patience and hard work were two of the mantras that paved the way for Hollywood Brown to make his much-anticipated return to the gridiron. 14 weeks! Yes, that’s the number of weeks Brown spent in the injury reserves. So, the 28-year-old was bound to be sad when he heard that he couldn’t be there for a major chunk of the regular season.

Brown was completely devasted when he heard that there would be a small chance for him to return before the playoffs. “It hurt for sure, I was heartbroken about it. I felt like this was my best offseason, my best camp.” Anyone would be heartbroken to hear they wouldn’t be able to contribute despite having all the attributes. Well, it was during the preseason that the inevitable happened with Brown. Facing off the Jaguars on August 10th, Marquise suffered a sternoclavicular injury.

And that injury just didn’t allow Brown to heal properly. So, in a month, he decided to undergo surgery and then follow it with a lengthy rehab. There was always hope on the horizon that Brown would eventually come back. And he did as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler was the first one to break the news of his return. After being activated from IR on Thursday, Brown took part in his first Chiefs practice in almost 5 months. This led Andy Reid to speak highly of his receiver, “He practiced today and did a nice job. You can tell he’s been working, and the conditioning part wasn’t a problem.”

Another person who was equally excited to see Brown return for the first time in a while was his wife, Zoei Billions. She took to her Instagram stories and shared Brown’s picture with the caption, “Hubby is BACKKKKKK.” And boy, did he offer a unique flair to the Chiefs’ offense on Saturday. His presence even led Patrick Mahomes to speak highly of their reinvigorated offense.

Patrick Mahomes shares his excitement to have Hollywood Brown back

Kansas City got the first glimpse of their new receiver, Hollywood Brown, in a dominant win over the Texans. Playing his first regular season game since January, Brown showed he was slowly coming back to his feet. Out of the 74 offensive snaps on Saturday, Brown played just 20 of them. But his numbers show that he is more than ready to help the Chiefs in the coming weeks. The former Cardinals receiver caught 5 catches on just eight targets for 45 yards. Now, two of those catches led to the Chiefs scoring consecutive TDs.

Is Hollywood Brown the missing piece for the Chiefs' playoff success this season?

His first catch on a fourth-and-one for 12 yards ended in a Chiefs TD. Well, his 20-yard catch later in the game also helped the Chiefs to a TD drive. Him chipping up with crucial plays with each catch led to Andy Reid giving him his flowers, “He had the big fourth down one. He loves playing and he knew he was doing well in there and just wanted more.” Reid wasn’t the only one who pointed out Brown’s importance. Patrick Mahomes also did the same, “I think you’re starting to see what this offense was meant to be … You can see where we thought we were gonna be at the beginning of the year.”

I mean, the Chiefs are at least winning games comfortably for the last two weeks. Before those two weeks, they mostly claimed victory by the final play of the game. However, the Chiefs are still some way behind from their first blowout win of the season. But with Brown back, who knows, maybe the Chiefs will drop their first big win before the regular season ends.
