The curtain fell on a disappointing season for the Patriots with one last humiliating loss against the Jets. But it wasn’t just another disappointing season for the Patriots, as this may be the last time that Bill Belichick walked their sidelines.
Hurt by the loss, Belichick’s trusted QB Bailey Zappe took his time to evaluate their mistakes and figured out their areas of improvement for the next season. But what did he gain from the legendary HC during his potential final days? Zappe also revealed that.

Talking to the post-game conference, Zappe was quick to figure out their biggest mistake: “The more you turn the ball over, the more opportunities you give.” The QB further detailed how the mistakes affected their end stretch of the regular season.
“You look back at the last two weeks. Turnovers were a thing that kinda haunted us in offense. Going in this offseason, just kind of… I have to clean some of that stuff up“, the QB sorted out what he needed to improve on before the next season.
Interestingly, despite questions by the reporters, Zappe kept it game-centric rather than bringing Bill Belichick’s teachings into it. He previously also cleared his thoughts with a straight answer about the head coach.

Belichick’s sun touches the horizon will the Patriots rebound?
When a reporter asked Zappe if he was thinking about Belichick during the game given it was possibly his last one, he directly answered it. “No. I mean, if it is… It is and I’m sure we’ll decide that in the offseason. For me, I’ll just try to win, didn’t do enough, obviously.” Once again, the QB was monotonic with his reply and kept the management talking further.
As things stand, owner Robert Kraft is yet to meet Belichick to decide his next move. The HC is still uncertain about his future but probably has made up his mind deep down. There won’t be any shortage of potential destinations if Belichick were to leave the Patriots, but it may not be true vice versa.

Bailey Zappe will find enough time to correct his mistakes, but he won’t find another Bill Belichick. That’s for certain.
