Peter King penned down a special goodbye
During his reporting journey, Peter King worked at reputed media houses, such as Sports Illustrated, CNN, HBO, ABC, and NBC Sports. King was also behind the conception of The MMBQ, Sports Illustrated’s microsite for football in 2013. He was voted the national sportswriter of the year in 2010, 2012, and 2013 by his peers at the National Sports Media Association. In addition to being a sportswriter, Peter King is also an accomplished author and has penned down five books in addition to serving on the voting panel for the Pro Football Hall of Fame since 1992.

Announcing his retirement in his Monday column for NBC Sports, Peter King wrote, “It’s time. Who’s complaining? Not me.” Looks like the prolific NFL writer has been ready to put his pen down and move on to other things. For us NFL enthusiasts, reading his columns and listening to his interviews was a joy, but for him, it had started to get redundant and repetitive. In the column, King said, “…last year I started noticing how much of it I simply didn’t care about. I had to force myself to be interested in things other than training camps and the games, and that’s no way to do this job.”
Hence, an idea started forming in his mind, the idea that he could maybe retire and finally watch a Super Bowl on his television from the comfort of his home. The notion took deep roots and finally culminated in his decision to move on from the world of reporting, at least for now. Peter King wrote, “I’m retiring*. I use an asterisk because I truly don’t know what the future holds for me. I probably will work at something, but as I write this I have no idea what it will be.” His decision to bid adieu saw tremendous tribute posts on social media by veterans like Adam Schefter.
