Aaron Rodgers’ return has caused a mass hysteria. Is the Jets’ top choice to lead the team going to take a backseat? He can’t because there are no other options. The only good thing that unfolded about A-Rod’s Egypt trip was the team’s apparent support for him, at least in the eyes of the public. But the whole thing still looks bad in Nick Wright’s eyes.
Of course, people are going to use Rodgers’ “tin-foil hat” theories against him, and this time is no different because fans still can’t figure out how watching the pyramids will help the Jets progress in this season. This narrative won’t change till Aaron Rodgers wins his first game against the 49ers. But that’s just the beginning. For now, there’s no barring Nick Wright’s words.
“So, it has now been reported by multiple places he was in Egypt,” said Wright and expanded, “If you listen to Aaron’s own words about some of his interests in Egypt it seems to be along the lines of a lot of what some would call conspiratorial beliefs, he has about previous societies, Tartania, all those things.” But the verbal attack didn’t stop there.

The host of the First Things First also had some more issues with Rodgers’ priorities. Per Wright, Rodgers’ presumably donating a kidney in his absence, or helping with his brother’s pregnant wife might have been an acceptable reason, but Egypt? That fired the host up to question Rodgers even more.
“If the answer is, ‘it was the only time in the schedule the Egyptologist would tell me about Tartania, so I had to go,’ that’s over here [unreasonable]. And so, if we all agree that there are certain excuses that would give you more grace, this would be one that would I think fairly generates the least. ‘MY WACKY YOUTUBE REDDIT LADEN BRAIN HAD TO GO SEE THESE PYRAMIDS FOR MYSELF BECAUSE I THINK A DIFFERENT SOCIETY BUILT THEM.’ If that’s the reason, yeah you need to clear the air.”
While the New York Jets are not addressing the matter apart from Saleh’s initial statement, there is a high chance the then front office, the coaching staff might feel some degree of frustration. So, did the Jets not know about Rodgers’ leaving for Egypt? Apparently, they did and that’s an even bigger problem.
The Jets have a deeper problems rooted in their organization
Wright going on a tangent started with a statement from Connor Hughes. “Hysteria over Aaron Rodgers whereabouts emerged largely because of the way the absence was announced. While they [Jets] were aware of Rodgers trip, and understanding of why it was important to him, their public stance on the matter gave the impression they were not and discounted Rodgers’ near perfect attendance throughout the voluntary portion of the offseason program.”

If anything, this statement points out how Robert Saleh has to ultimately bear the brunt of it all. There’s no question that Rodgers attended the voluntary minicamp and even left everyone wishing for his comeback, but wasn’t the whole debacle avoidable in the first place?
Also, if the Jets knew about this already, what stopped them from announcing that Rodgers will be taking some time off the training? It just so happens that Rodgers’ teammates didn’t know that he was going to take time off. And if that wasn’t enough, the team owner Woody Johnson took to X and posted a video of Rodgers highlights on June 21 saying, “@AaronRodgers12 looked as good as ever this spring.” That’s the statement that added more fuel to the fire.
So, are the Jets taking it too leniently? Because when Rodgers returned, he went straight to Las Vegas to watch UFC 303, without addressing the media or the Jets. Not to be condescending towards A-Rod, but shouldn’t addressing his absence be his first media appearance especially when the whole world has their eyes on him?

Aaron Rodgers got Nathaniel Hackett to be the OC of the Jets. “You should trust me, and I trust Nathaniel,” he said. That didn’t age well after Rodgers tore his Achilles after playing 4 snaps. For some, Zach Wilson was an eyesore to watch. Then the team united Rodgers with Allen Lazard who followed him from Wisconsin to New York. Seems like the Jets are doing all they can to accommodate Aaron Rodgers.
When Rodgers left Green Bay, it rubbed a lot of people in a wrong way. He was called ‘disrespectful,’ ‘selfish’ and reportedly, by the end of everything, his Green Bay teammates stopped liking him. Is he on the same trajectory with the Jets? And if that happens, will he retire next year? The stage is set, the lights are on Aaron Rodgers and all that’s left is to mic him up in hopes of some answers about how he’s going to revive the Jets from last year’s 7-10 season.
