Jaire Alexander dropped a hint about his potential exit! The Packers cornerback was initially suspended over alleged misconduct against the Carolina Panthers. He aggressively took possession of the coin during the coin toss and caused a disruption. But later on, everything settled down. Alexander was “very grateful” for his return. However, the sudden update from him says something else.
The talented cornerback admitted wanting to remain with the Packers beyond this season. Alexander is still under contract with the team for four more years. Given the trade rumors, Alexander’s recent update suggested that he plans to leave the team soon.

In a recent Instagram post, cornerback Alexander shared a cryptic update stating his intention to leave the team. The post reads, “Thank you, God. Thank you, Lambeau, for six years. Thank you to those who showed love throughout my journey.” This post sent shockwaves among NFL enthusiasts, contradicting what was in Alexander’s contract.

The financials don’t show any sign of the cornerback’s dismissal. Last year, the cornerback signed a four-year contract with the Packers, which amounted to an $84 million extension. The agreement guaranteed $30 million of that $84 million. Plus, there is a signing bonus of $6 million per year. The bonus is prorated over the salary cap for five years. The cornerbacks’ dead cap would stand at $18 million in 2024.
Alexander underwent a contract reshuffling, which gave him an extra $9.4 million if the squad desired to go with him for the 2024 season. The reason is unknown, but based on Packer’s performance this season, it might be the case that the head coach made this decision.
Matt LaFleur’s warning!
Considering the outcome of the divisional round, this decision about the cornerbacks’ release might come into practice. The divisional round ended with a loss to the San Francisco 49ers, a 21-24 defeat that shattered the Packers’ Super Bowl dreams. Moreover, if they remove Alexander from the team, the Packers would absorb $27,456,000 in dead cap.

Head coach Matt LaFleur previously claimed that he would love to have Alexander back on the team after his false attempt to be a captain and go for a coin toss mix when he assumed himself as a captain during the Panthers matchup and was suspended for the Week 17 matchup against the Vikings.
The head coach said, “I’m not going to get into too many specifics,” and further stated that getting him back to the team is excellent. Still, after the divisional round loss to the Packers, it seemed Alexander’s time with the Packers was as short-lived as a snowman.
