Kansas City Chiefs heiress Gracie Hunt paid tribute to her late grandmother, Norma Hunt, by donning her Tom Ford dress at the NFL Honors. Chiefs’ CEO’s mother, belovedly addressed as Mimi Norma, passed away last June, aged 85.

The Tom Ford dress became iconic when Mimi wore it during the 50th Super Bowl. Being the only woman to attend all 57 Super Bowls, the players of Kansas City will also honor her legacy in football during their Super Bowl LVIII match on Sunday.

Gracie Hunt paid homage to Mimi Hunt in her way. She wore her grandmother’s Tom Ford gown, last seen on Mimi during the 50th Super Bowl. Also called the ‘mother of football,’ Norma Hunt will be remembered during the Super Bowl. While facing the San Francisco 49ers, the Chiefs players will be sporting a jersey patch. On closer inspection, fans can spot the gold initials, ‘NKH,’ inside a football logo.

Norma Hunt remains an integral part of the Chiefs’ history. She was the wife of the team’s late founder, Lamar Hunt, and the mother of Clark Hunt, the current CEO. This will be the first Super Bowl without Norma gracing the stands, and the Chiefs want to secure this win for her.

Tight end Travis Kelce expressed his feelings for the matriarch in a media session, “For this being the first Super Bowl she hasn’t been to, to bring this home for the Hunt family would mean the world.” Other than being the ‘mother of football’, Mimi Hunt was also somewhat responsible for the naming of the SB.

Mrs. Hunt helped come up with the name ‘Super Bowl’

The origin of the now legendary league name, Super Bowl, is indirectly tied up to Norma Hunt. As per the NFL website, Hunt’s children used to play with bouncy balls named Superballs by their mother. Hinting at his children’s toys, Lamar Hunt jokingly once called the championship by the name we all recognize it by today.

The Hunt family has expressed their remembrances before the much-awaited game on Sunday. Gracie’s mother, Tavia Hunt, expressed her feelings through Instagram. “This will be the first Super Bowl without her as a spectator and our first without her by our side,” she wrote. “She had seen all 57 and had an indirect hand in naming the game itself. ”
