The Philly aren’t in the status they were in at the start of the 2023 season. Jason Kelce and team are preparing for their playoffs next. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t aware of their issues on the field, especially after Sunday’s shocker.

The Philadelphia Eagles lost against the New York Giants 27-10 on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. This marked their fifth loss in the last six games. However, that’s not all. Sunday’s upset was actually a shocker for the franchise because of a historic reason. And Jason Kelce is not happy with the team’s performance now.

After the Eagles’ loss, Jason Kelce appeared in a post-game interview from the locker room. When asked about his level of concern, the Eagles center said, “We got a lot to fix. Had a lot to do better.” Kelce also admitted that it is “the worst stretch of football” calling it “very very frustrating.” However, being optimistic, the center also added, “We’re in the playoffs and now it’s one and done.” He continued that they have to face the Buccaneers this next week and they are focusing on preparing and trying to win their next game at Raymond James Stadium on Monday, Jan. 15 at 8:15 p.m.

Although Kelce and team would look out to win their wildcard round, fans aren’t forgetting their current historic loss of Week 18. Since the NFL shifted to a season with 16 or more games, there have been 47 teams that started with a 10-1 or better record. Among them, only two teams ended the season with fewer than 12 wins. One is the 1986 Jets team, and the other is now the 2023 Eagles.

This is considered one of the biggest collapses in NFC history. Even the NFL analyst and former NFL player, Dan Orlovsky, suggested that to Philly.

The Eagles got some pain points to look for

Before the Giants’ game and after an upset by the Cardinals, ESPN analysts and former NFL players, Ryan Clark and Dan Orlovsky shared their views on the Eagles’ recent condition. Orlovsky labeled the Cardinals’ loss as one of the team’s worst regular season defeats in around 20 years, due to the high stakes in the game and the Cardinals’ low win count. The defense of Philly, particularly, faced scrutiny for allowing game-winning drives in multiple recent games.

Orlovsky expressed concern that if the defense doesn’t improve quickly, the Eagles might have an early playoff exit. And a similar thing happened in the Giants game as well. Milton Williams, Jordan Davis, Moro Ojomo, and Jalen Carter couldn’t perform well, and the Giants consistently targeted the edges of the Eagles’ defense, exploiting the lack of impact from these players.

Overall the Eagles’ defensive performance has been subpar since Week 13, ranking 31st in points allowed per game and 29th in yards allowed per game.
