The Kansas City Chiefs managed to kick the Miami Dolphins out of the playoffs during challenging weather conditions. The clash between the Chiefs and the Dolphins will be recorded as the fourth coldest kickoff in the league’s history, with the game starting at -4° at Arrowhead Stadium. Amidst all talks of victory and praises for the performance of QB Patrick Mahomes, his mom could not help but put forth her concern for her son.

While Randi Mahomes was not present at the stadium to support her son, her wishes and care for the QB seemed to be fully in place. She did not stop looking out for her son, Patrick Mahomes, even after the victory and made a special request through her Instagram story.

As we know, players don’t wear a jacket or sweater over their jerseys while playing in a football game. It looks like a superhuman feat playing in sub-zero temperatures, executing the play perfectly. After the Chiefs won the game 26-7, a joyful Mahomes could be seen speaking to reporters. But he wasn’t wearing any jacket, even though the game was over. His mom caught this on camera and shared a picture on Instagram as a story.

She captioned the picture, “Can someone give him a jacket please.” Her plea for help touched everyone’s heart, reflecting her concern for her child. While the QB was speaking, he could be seen exhaling moist air, depicting how low the temperature was in Kansas City. Mahomes’ fans would be hoping for the QB to keep himself warm and safe, preparing well for the upcoming clashes.

But during the game, something happened that might have sent her into panic mode.

Mahomes’ helmet breaks during game

It was the third quarter of the game. The Chiefs had a comfortable 9-point lead over the Dolphins. Then, Mahomes tried to make a run for the end zone. He ran 13 yards, which was then abruptly cut short. Safety DeShon Elliott and Mahomes had a brutal helmet-to-helmet clash. A large piece of his helmet could also be seen flying off.

But the surprising thing was that the referees did not make any calls. Neither did the concussion protocol team check him for any concussion. The game continued as usual, and then two plays later it was paused. However, The officials saw his damaged helmet and asked him to get it replaced. Unfortunately for him, there was a spare one, but it was also frozen. They warmed it on the sidelines and then discovered- it didn’t fit him! Somehow they managed to fit it on him, and he played the rest of the game with it.

We can only imagine how Randi must have reacted when her son took such a dangerous hit!
