Their playoff woes continue. The Pittsburgh Steelers were absolutely shocked by their AFC North rival Ravens in the Wild Card Round after they lost 14-28. This extended their playoff losing streak to six games and also was the Steelers’ fifth straight loss to conclude the 2024 season. But the loss against the Ravens felt personal. It felt bitter. And wide receiver George Pickens couldn’t agree more.

A couple of hours after losing the game, Pickens took to his Instagram stories with a message for all the Steelers fans. What did he share? Well, he wrote:

“Love y’all boys/girls steeler nation. We’ll be back!! Much love.” He put up this message with Wiz Khalifa’s ‘Black and Yellow’ playing in the background. Surely, the WR isn’t happy with the outcome of their latest game, but he didn’t forget to thank his fans.

Talk about how the tables turn, and the Pittsburgh team will be there to prove it right away. I mean, at one point in the season, you’re the top contender to secure the number one seed in the AFC division. Five weeks later, there’s a story from the wide receiver that says, “We’ll be back.” Cheers to Lamar Jackson and Co., who brought out a storm in the first half and thrashed away the Steelers with a 21-0 lead.

From there, the Steelers didn’t get a chance to heal their wounds as the Ravens secured the divisional round with a win. As for Pickens, the third-year wide receiver was out of the action for the first two quarters. But he gave some hope to the fans as he caught a 36-yard pass from the quarterback, Russell Wilson, and ended up in the end zone, late in the third quarter. However, the Ravens had the last laugh. So what did the Steelers’ HC have to say about their loss?

“Not in combination with our ineffectiveness on offense,” Mike Tomlin stated. “I just think when you’re on the grass like that, particularly against a group and a unit like with a guy like [Lamar Jackson], it could look the way it looked.”

Well, a loss is a loss. Now Pickens will enter the final year of his rookie contract with the Steelers and he is ending his season with a message to the offensive line and the QB.

George Pickens is upset with the O-line and Russell Wilson…

Players are frustrated with their teams’ tough losses. You probably have heard this several times, haven’t you? Well, include George Pickens in the party. Three years with the Steelers and a couple of postseason losses. Sure, that’s enough to raise your frustration with the team, especially after the Ravens’ loss. It seems Pickens has lost all hope/

The wide receiver was asked whether he has seen signs of growth in the O-line in his three years at the franchise. Pickens had a straightforward answer: “Yeah, I’ve seen signs of growth, for sure. From past — first year I’ve been here, just way more growth, for sure.” But things took a certain turn when he was asked, “Does that make you optimistic going forward?”

The 23-year-old had a one-word blunt answer for the O-line led by Russell Wilson, “Nah!”

But here’s the kicker. Earlier this month, Wilson backed the third-year wide receiver and called him a “difference maker.”

“I believe in George,” Wilson had said. “I believe in who he is [and] the player he is. He [has] been a star for us all season. You know, he’s going to be a difference maker for us in the playoffs, obviously, and I’m looking forward to that and what he can do — what we can do together. I’m not blinking on George.”

They say ‘you reap what you sow’. Guess that didn’t work out in Wilson’s favor. However, we can’t deny the fact that Pickens’ take on the team’s offense isn’t without merit.

For starters, Wilson played a crucial role in the Steelers’ crumbling O-line. He started the season with an injury. But, the QB wrapped up his season with just under 2,500 yards and 16 TDs with 5 interceptions. Not to mention the frustration within the locker room regarding the quarterbacks, as now both Wilson and Justin Fields are set to free agency. Wait, here’s more.

The head coach, Mike Tomlin, is also getting side-eyes from the management. Despite his three-year contract extension with the team, Tomlin’s future seems to be uncertain. So yes, there are plenty of reasons why George Pickens is not feeling optimistic going forward. What do you think?
