Alright, folks, let’s talk about the Raiders‘ hottest topic—the quarterback. Geno Smith, the quarterback who’s been bouncing around the league like a pinball—from the Jets to the Giants, then the Chargers, and finding his groove with the Seahawks—has now finally got a well-deserving deal in Las Vegas. Because let’s be real—a few years ago, many were joking that Geno was just renting jerseys. Now?
The man’s out there cashing checks, flying under the radar, and somehow ends up in Vegas like it’s a Marvel post-credit scene nobody saw coming. His contract terms? A sweet two-year deal worth up to $75 million. And right after Geno stacked up a high payday, his doctor, Dr Sharif Tabbah, shared a few pictures of Geno as the Raiders’ QB was working out and practicing for the 2025 season.
On Friday, Dr. Sharif took to his official ‘X’ handle and captioned his post, “HUGE congrats to our guy @geno on locking down yet another BAG💰now with the @raiders! Your hard work, patience, and commitment continues (to) pay off! Couldn’t be happier for you 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽.” Guess Geno doesn’t want to take any chances this season. And why would he?

I mean, it took Geno years to finally lock in his spot in the league. The man kicked things off with the Jets, but let’s be real—it all went sideways after that infamous locker room punch from IK Enemkpali (yeah, that really happened). Then came the ACL tear, a pit stop with the Giants, a cameo with the Chargers… and just when everyone kinda forgot about him, boom—Seattle happened. His last season?
Well, let’s just call it a breakout season for the 34-year-old QB. Geno went off for a career-high 4,320 yards, racked up 21 TDs, and now he’s gearing up for the 2025 campaign with a whole new vibe in Vegas. And Dr. Sharif’s IG pics? Cherry on the cake. Whether spending some crucial time in the gym while hitting bench press and legs, or throwing passes on the field, the Raiders QB is all set to flip the script in Vegas after the team’s embarrassing 4-13 season.
After all, the Raiders finally offered him a contract extension.

Is Geno Smith's $75M deal with the Raiders a gamble or a genius move?
Have an interesting take?
The Raiders scooped up Geno Smith for a couple of years
Almost a month ago, the Seattle Seahawks traded Geno Smith after the veteran QB spent six seasons with the franchise. The reason? Financial disagreements. Smith’s camp wanted a $45M per year deal while Seattle adhered to a $35M per year deal. The result? Geno packed his bags and left for Vegas—reuniting with his former head coach, Pete Carroll, with one year still left on his contract with Seattle.
However, it’s been weeks since the Raiders traded for Geno, but the guy has yet to appear in the team’s press conference. If reports are true, the 34-year-old QB was awaiting a contract extension from the Raiders. Fast forward, and the team finally signed him to a two-year, $75 million extension on Thursday. The two-year deal includes $66.5M in guaranteed money.

And that’s where things get pretty interesting. See, before signing a deal in Vegas, Smith was projected to stack up $14.5M in 2025 before hitting the free agency in 2026. Now that the Raiders signed him on a $75M deal, the QB is going to make up to $85.5M (over the span of his contract) per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. As per Spotrac, Geno will receive a base salary of $14.8M for 2025, a roster bonus of $16M, and a workout bonus of $200K while carrying a cap hit of $31M. Guess the QB is getting a sigh of relief right about now.
The reason’s pretty simple: the way his career turned out in the past few years, Geno was surely on a path to become a journeyman QB. Luckily, the Raiders pulled off a trade for the QB when they sent a third-round pick to the Seahawks to get him. Sure, it’s still unclear when Geno’s contract extension kicks in. But one thing’s for sure: the guy’s in Las Vegas through 2027.
