After taking two straight bitter losses at the hands of the Packers and the Vikings, the Geno Smith-led Seattle Seahawks finally broke their losing streak. Though the Seahawks beat the Bears in Week 17, Seahawks fans might not be thrilled with the victory. As the team struggles to make it to the playoffs, their advisor, Pete Carroll, might part ways with them, completely.

Rumor has it Pete Carroll might be eyeing the Bears’ head coaching gig. Carroll coached the Seahawks for thirteen years (2010-2023), leading them to victory in Super Bowl XLVIII. The 73-year-old stepped away earlier this year, but it seems like he’s itching to get back in the game. Seahawks DE Leonard Williams faced questions about the swirling rumors in the post-game conference“I only played with him for eight weeks, unfortunately,” said Leonard. The star DE added, I think he’s a great coach so it’s like you know if he wants to come out of retirement or whatever the case is you know I’m rooting for him.”

“As a special human being, he’s a believer. He’s a guy who’s always gonna be upbeat, he’s always gonna fight. And he has one way about him, and that’s what I love about him,” remarked Geno Smith. The Seahawks QB has played five seasons with Coach Carroll. Back in 2022, he won the Pro Bowl and Comeback Player of the Year honors under Pete’s mentorship. I think Coach Carroll, he can help out any team, he can help out anybody. I’m a big advocate of his,” added Smith. Uh-oh! Looks like Geno’s former coach is serious about joining the Bears.

Will the Bears start next season with Pete Carroll as HC?

The Bears are one of the teams that have always been at the center of controversy for all the wrong reasons. The team had a disappointing season this year. Out of the 16 games they’ve played so far, Caleb Williams-led Bears have only scored 4 wins. Williams’s fans kept saying, “Cut the rookie some slack,” but the QB kept losing games. In the middle of the season, the OC, Shane Waldron, got fired, like every team that’s losing does. As a justification, they just started firing people. Then, after the Thanksgiving game, the team bid goodbye to HC Matt Eberflus too.

But the Bears celebrated as the management fired coach Eberflus. Let’s be real, his coaching choices this season were as bad as anything. After him, OC Thomas Brown stepped up as the interim head coach for the remaining season. Initially, the talk of the town was that if Brown managed to get the team some wins, there was a possibility that the Bears might keep him as the HC. But when it rains, it pours. The Bears kept on losing. And now the team has their eyes on Pete Carroll.

As per ESPN, Pete Carroll has expressed his interest in the Bears HC role. The Bears might be thinking of locking things down with him, but Pete is exploring other options too. Pete Carroll has an interest in the Bears job, but that’s not the only one he is looking at. I’m told that he has informed all of the teams with openings that he is looking to get back into coaching in 2025. Additionally, I am told that the Bears are interested in sitting down and having a conversation with Carroll about their opening,” reported Albert Breer.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Pete Carroll really turn the Bears around, or is this just wishful thinking?

Have an interesting take?

It will be interesting to see whether Kevin Warren‘s team gets successful in locking things down with Pete or if they fail, just like they did this season on the gridiron.
