When it rains it pours! Things have already been so hard for the New York Jets this season. Constant losses, messy management drama, and staff getting fired left and right. It’s like they are on the wrong side of fate. The Jets kicked off the season with three wins but haven’t managed to snag another victory since. It’s starting to feel like the Jets and Patriots are in a race to the bottom of the AFC East, with both sitting at a 3-8 record. Recently, the Jets said goodbye to their general manager, Joe Douglas, after the team’s disappointing season. Now, the team’s back in the spotlight, with reports swirling that they might bench Aaron Rodgers soon.
After firing Douglas, ending his five-year run with the team, owner Woody Johnson was tempted to take Rodgers off the field too. The NFL world went into a frenzy over this news, and former Giants DE Chris Canty didn’t hold back on sharing his thoughts. And mind you, he had some pretty harsh things to say about the veteran QB. Canty didn’t hold back, taking a shot at everyone who thought Aaron Rodgers would magically fix things for the Jets. He poked fun at the team for hyping Rodgers as their best QB ever, sarcastically calling him ‘championship DNA.’
There’s a long list of people that owe an apology that tried to convince everyone that it was going to be DIFFERENT this time with the New York Jets. @ChrisCanty99 https://t.co/lf3sfvHGGP pic.twitter.com/3RbA6hf6mC

Canty didn’t stop there. He went after Rodgers for putting his comfort and friends above winning. Hinting at the Jets bringing in Davante Adams (in 20224) and Nathaniel Hackett (in 2023) just to keep Rodgers happy. Looks like the Giants legend did his homework on his old rivals! Further, he also took a shot at Joe Douglas. He claimed that things went downhill for the Jets when Douglas chose Aaron Rodgers over Sam Darnold, who was traded to the Panthers in 2021, and Zach Wilson, whom the Jets let go in 2024.
“He missed on his evaluation of Zach Wilson and that put him in the desperate position of having to get in bed with Aaron Rodgers”, said Canty. Whoa! That’s some serious accusations being thrown at the veteran Jets QB. He shared his disappointment with Douglas for bringing in Rodgers as the Jets’ QB. And, in a way, letting him take over the entire organization as Rodgers favored his friends over the team’s success. “It’s unfortunate because we are talking about people’s careers we are talking about people’s livelihoods”, added Canty.

Will Aaron Rodgers go the same way as Daniel Jones?
The New York Giants are in pretty much the same boat as the Jets. Sitting at the bottom of the table with a 2-8 record, it feels like not even a miracle can save them. Just like the Jets, they’re also dealing with management issues and internal conflicts. Most recently, the Giants made a bold move by benching their starting QB, Daniel Jones, and bringing in Tommy DeVito to take over.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Aaron Rodgers really the Jets' savior, or just another chapter in their ongoing saga of chaos?
Have an interesting take?
Both Giants players and fans are angry with this move. In addition, many feel it’s unfair to blame Daniel Jones, ignoring the team’s overall struggles this season. Leader Dexter Lawrence is fuming over the decision, saying that it’s the whole team that loses a match, not just one player. If the credit for success goes to the whole team, then the whole team is also responsible for the failure. Giants players aren’t holding back. One player stated, “We’re not idiots. They did it because of money.” Looks like the situation is quite tense in there.

Moving on, everyone’s wondering if Aaron Rodgers will meet the same fate as the Giants’ QB. It’s possible, as the Jets’ owner has already expressed interest in that option. At this point, it’s the management that’s been keeping Rodgers in the game for now. What will unravel? Well, stay tuned to the NFL (2024-25) to find out.
