Now that Jason Kelce is retired, he is in a fix about what to do with his free time! The former Philadelphia Eagles star announced his retirement a few days ago with a very emotional speech. Kelce took the heavy decision after spending 13 long years with his home team. Now, with the beginning of a new chapter of his life, the former center has shared what he plans to do with plenty of time at his hands.
In his podcast, ‘New Heights,’ Kelce discussed his post-retirement plans with his brother, Travis Kelce. While the retired NFL star doesn’t have any concrete plans for the offseason, Travis certainly has some interesting ideas for his brother. From being a full-time cattle farmer to a decked-up coach, the brothers seemed to have a fun time discussing the many possibilities.

Retirement certainly will be a new change for Jason Kelce because of how salient football was in his life. As the 2024 season will kick off, Kelce will be forced to watch the action and not participate in it, playing on the field. Kelce had expressed that the one thing that he regrets about his retirement decision is the timing, as he believes that the Eagles are going to make a comeback this year.
Nonetheless, the older Kelce brother seemed content with his decision. This led to the conversation moving to an interesting theme of post-retirement engagement. And from the start, Travis Kelce had some unique ideas in store for his elder brother. Initially, he proposed the idea of Jason getting into rearing cattle full-time!
“Obviously, you don’t know exactly what you’re doing over the offseason other than becoming a full-time cattle farmer,” Travis joked. “How are you gonna spend time this offseason?” Jason Kelce admitted that he doesn’t have any fixed plans yet, but he is more concerned about figuring out his plans for when the new season commences.
The conversation soon shifted to another potential role Jason Kelce might take up—a full-time coach. However, the 36-year-old admitted that doesn’t want to become a “full-time coach,” but he does want to stay involved with his former team. Jason would like a role where he can help out the team through his experience and guide the young players.
“I’m trying to figure out what I’m gonna do during the season,” Kelce shared. “Obviously, I’m not gonna be a full-time coach, but if there is a level, I can help out the team, still help out the young guys, whatever, figure out if there’s a role there.”
In response, Travis playfully called him “Coach Kelce” and remarked that he could see his older brother in a coach’s fit. He imagined Kelce wearing a tucked-in shirt and a visor, complete with a stopwatch and a whistle. Playing along with the joke, Kelce admitted that he does happen to be a “tucked-in shirt guy” as he looks forward to non-football-centric things.

Having played football for most of his life, Kelce is now ready to turn a new leaf in his life. He expressed that he wants to explore new things, which he didn’t have time for while being busy with football. “I look forward to do something that’s not football,” Kelce expressed. “I’ve been committed to the sport for so long.”
Kelce further said that he plans to learn more housework. He joked that his wife, Kylie, knows more about fixing things around the house than he does, “It’s embarrassing when your wife knows how to do more housework.” Her father being an electrician, Kylie knows how to fix wires and can even replace a socket if need be, according to Kelce.
Becoming more adventurous, Kelce shared that he loves the show “Forged in Fire” and would love to do forging himself. He wishes to make a knife for himself at the blacksmith’s. Travis chimed in, saying he would like a sword and they could play “fruit ninja in real life.” “I like experiencing new things,” Kelce shared. “I like the show Forged in Fire. I want to go to a blacksmith and make a freaking knife!”
