Aaron Rodgers was out for the last season after a mere four snaps. And this season, he was anticipated to lead as the starting QB for the New York Jets. But he is reportedly contemplating an intriguing addition to his portfolio. That of the vice-presidential candidate. The 4x NFL MVP finds himself as a prime contender for the role of deputy to third-party aspirant Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

In the meantime, the Jets are continuing to build out a team that is going to help Rodgers. They even signed an offensive tackle from the Cowboys for this very purpose.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is stepping into the presidential race as an independent. He has been dropping hints that Aaron Rodgers could be on his shortlist for a VP partner. But the Jets themselves have been reluctant to believe this. However, what’s the word from Rodgers himself? Well, A-Rod hasn’t said anything out loud, per Pro Football. However, he has been a vocal supporter of Kennedy Jr like the time he retweeted one of his campaign promises.

ESPN’s Greenberg, who poked fun at Rodgers before, did it this time as well. “So, if I am to understand this correctly, the #Jets have devoted their entire franchise to the cause of making it work around Aaron Rodgers, and he just might be running for vice president,” he said on X.

And Greenberg’s observation hits the mark. To bolster Rodgers’ efforts on the field, the Jets even brought in Tyron Smith.

Can Smith elevate the Jets’ offense?

The New York Jets are fortifying their O-line. Reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that Smith signed a one-year tenure valued at $20 million. Tyron boasts an impressive resume with eight Pro Bowl selections and two stints as a first-team All-Pro across his 13 seasons with Dallas.

Injuries and poor play beleaguered last season’s O-line. It resulted in 64 sacks and a dismal 28th ranking league-wide. They cycled through 13 different line configurations because of these challenges. But clearly, nothing worked. So within just five days, the Jets have introduced three new starters to their lineup: Smith, left guard John Simpson, and right tackle Morgan Moses. Of these, Smith will be in charge of protecting Rodgers’ blind side since he’ll be manning his left.

However, Smith has constantly grappled with recurrent injuries. He’s missed 37 games in the last 4 seasons! So whether he will truly be able to secure Rodgers and the O-line depends on whether he could keep himself healthy throughout the season or not.
