Could Jordan Love really outshine Aaron Rodgers, or is Cowherd just stirring the pot again?

As the NFL season approaches, all eyes are on Jordan Love and his performance as the starting QB of the Green Bay Packers. And it looks like a lot of excitement and high expectations are already building up from Colin Cowherd’s bold prediction on Love. So, what did the sports media personality say about Jordan after calling him a ‘Bust‘ in 2022?

On the 20th August episode of The Herd show, Cowherd came with a surprising take on the potential of the rookie QB, “I think Jordan Love wins the MVP. The last ten starts last year, he was the best quarterback in football.” And he’s not wrong as Love became the 3rd QB in NFL history to record 4159 passing yards and 32 passing TDs in his first season with multiple starts. And that’s not all.

Well, Cowherd further said, “I think there’s voter fatigue with Lamar, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers, Mahomes,” as he started to add his defense for Love being the next deserving MVP. It looks like he wasn’t wrong, as Rodgers suffered a season-ending torn Achilles in New York’s 2023 opener against the Buffalo Bills. But this wasn’t the first time Cowherd brought A-Rod while emphasizing Jordan Love. It looks like Colin has a habit of frequently comparing Rodgers and Love. And why so?

Jordan Love is a better player today than Aaron Rodgers. That is not a hot take. He has better receivers, a better coach, a better organization, a weaker conference, and a better offensive line,” per Colin, earlier this year. He further mentioned that Rodgers has already left the Packers, which might have given the upper hand to Love in coordinating with the offense. In the words of Cowherd, ‘Josh Jacobs‘ and ‘Christian Watson‘ are two of the Packers’ offensive battalion who can synergize well with Love. Well, it seems like the bond between Love and Jacobs was growing stronger as the rookie QB promised to end the 0 TD streak of Josh. “Bro, we’re going to get you a touchdown, for sure.” And the 25-year-old has been doing good with Watson, too, “To be able to hit him in stride and he makes that play, it felt good to connect on that first day back.

Well, amidst the comparisons between Rodgers and Love, what are Jordan Love’s views on A-Rod?

Have an interesting take?

Earlier this year, the rookie QB shared his thoughts on Rodgers in an interview with Thanasis Antetokounmpo, “We have a great relationship. Obviously, I was in the quarterback room with him. When you’re in that room together, you’re there every day for multiple hours a day, so you build a relationship with everyone in that room.” And that’s not the first time Love talked of Rodger’s importance as a mentor.” He also talked of Rodgers’ football acumen, “He’s just so smart and in our system… he just helps us with me and Danny both, just with little pointers, things we might not notice,” in a locker room interview. But that’s not all.

Love recalled a supportive message from Aaron, just before the rookie QB entered the 2023 Pakcers’ training camp: “Be yourself, have fun and enjoy it. Don’t be like me and throw a pick on your first pass in the playoffs.” It looks like he wanted Love to shine brighter than him. Moreover, in the words of Tom Brady, the NFL GOAT, “He had Aaron Rodgers to watch. That’s the best type of training, in my opinion.” Brady’s remarks further underscore Love’s standout performance from the last season with 32 TDs.

Well, with all the support and learnings, will Jordan Love be the MVP?
