Questions about the legitimacy of America’s team have started to take over the internet once again. Just like a year before, Mike McCarthy led Dallas Cowboys is expected to choke in the playoffs again. In his career, McCarthy has an 11-11 playoff record including his career with the Green Bay Packers as well.

However, McCarthy had a Super Bowl win with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers when the QB was in his third season with the team. With the Dallas Cowboys, however, the coach hasn’t been able to achieve a lot. Even though he has unwavering faith in Dak Prescott, NFL pundits on First Things First believe that the 60-year-old has it in him to get a postseason win. There’s also one other thing about the Cowboys HC.

Nick Wright and Co. were discussing Dallas Cowboys’ 2024 regular season schedule. The hosts believed that Prescott and his allies could win games against “tomato can” teams, but would lose against the likes of Detroit Lions, the Eagles at the LINC, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Niners, who “manhandled” the Cowboys the last time they saw them.

Danny Parkins of the show pointed out how the Cowboys have had a consistent regular season with the most points scored last year with a high point differential, but they still suffer in the postseason. Also, the “trivia” revealed that the Cowboys in the last three years haven’t won a single conference title game as well. But then Parkins pointed out a shocking fact about why McCarthy might be a rusty cog in the machine that is the Cowboys.

“Mike McCarthy has one playoff win without Aaron Rodgers,” said the host and added, “It’s a house of cards. When he got hired, he said he watched every play and then he admitted at the introductory press conference, ‘I just said it to get the job.’ So, he’ll win in the regular season, and they’ll lose in the playoffs.”

McCarthy admitted to lying to Jerry Jones to land the job as Cowboys HC. “I need to confess: I told Jerry I watched every play of the 2019 season,” he said in the introductory presser and added, “I wanted the job. You do what you gotta do, right?”

But following Parkins’ statements, Nick Wright drew an interesting comparison with the Chiefs. “They are almost like the bizzarro Chiefs in this regard,” said Wright and explained that the Dallas Cowboys will never get the benefit of the doubt in the playoffs no matter how they do in the regular season.

However, a couple of months ago, McCarthy assured the Cowboys fans in a presser that he would get over the playoff “threshold.”

The Cowboys HC is hell-bent on making it work

McCarthy appeared in a presser a day after his talks with the Cowboys owner, who agreed to give him one more chance despite the Packers’ upset. After the upset, the HC was embarrassed as he addressed the media. However, he assured that the Dallas team was close to a playoff win.

“We have not crossed the threshold winning playoff games,” McCarthy said. “It’s extremely disappointing to be sitting here talking about. But I know how to win. We will get over that threshold. I have total confidence in that, and that’s why I’m standing here today.”
