In a wild shake-up news that is set to both bewilder and plant new hopes in the hearts of the Carolina Panthers fan base, the team revealed a big move. In the Week 12 game against the Tennessee Titans, the Panthers recorded their tenth loss, after a 17-10 score. Everyone knew the situation was getting dire for the Panthers, with them inching toward losing out on even a 0.500 record every week. And now the owner has pulled the plug on the man who they think had a big part to play in the Panthers’ woes.
So, what is this big news that has taken the Panthers’ world by storm? This is the second high-profile firing in the span of a few weeks, after the Las Vegas Raiders fired their head coach Josh McDaniels on November 1.

Reich had barely made it through half of the season as the Panthers’ head coach before the axe fell on his head. Taking to X, the Panthers’ official X account posted this news on behalf of their owner, David Tepper. “I met with Coach Reich this morning and informed him that he will not continue as head coach of the Carolina Panthers,” Tepper said in the statement. “I want to thank Frank for his dedication and service, and we wish him well.”

The team had hired Reich, who is 61, in January by bypassing interim HC Steve Wilks. During his tenure, the Panthers went 6-6 in the last season. So, who is going to replace him? Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor has been asked to take charge as the interim head coach.
Tabor has a three-decade-long career in various coaching roles in the NFL. He was last the HC of the Chicago Bears, and under him, the Bears recorded a 33-22 winning stretch. Unfortunately for Reich, he now joins the list of “one-and-done” NFL head coaches.
Which other head coaches have been fired after just one season?
Some names who were recently fired during, or immediately after, their 1st season with a particular team include Bobby Petrino, Urban Meyer, and Jim Tomsula. What does the future look like for the sacked HC? He could join his previous team, the Indianapolis Colts, who registered 40-33-1 in 5 seasons, under him.

As for the Panthers, defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero could take charge as the head coach. Even with the lackluster team and the always-injured defensive team that he was given to work with, he has done an impressive job. If the Panthers want to keep him for the defense and want to bring an outsider, they might also try to woo Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.
