It has been over a decade since Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews have been at Fox. But their connection goes way before that. Recalling their first encounter in 2023, Thompson shared how Andrews made her feel at home when they both worked at ESPN—Fox’s arch-rival. “She flies out the door and she was like, ‘Welcome, I’m here for you,'” said Thompson. “‘Whatever you need, I’ve got your back.’ We weren’t friends or anything at this point.”

Not only Thompson but Erin too felt the same for her who had fangirled over Thompson and was excited she was coming to be a part of the network. However, their decade-long journey has passed in the blink of an eye as their contracts are up after the 2024 season. While there is no clarity on whether Fox is going to retain them, Erin and Thompson both just dropped a major update.

After the Super Bowl LIX fever was over, the two sat down on their podcast ‘Calm Down With Erin and Charissa’ and discussed their contract situation at Fox. “I think my goal is always kind of the same as last year. Enjoy it, because it’s not going to last forever, especially when your contract is up — and mine is,” Andrews—who signed a three-year extension in 2022 after her previous contract expired—told her Fox colleague.

While Andrews’s exit rumors dominated headlines, Charissa Thompson’s own contract uncertainty blindsided fans. She admitted, “I am going on and on about Fox, and I swear. I mean, it’s not just because my contract’s up.” She praised Fox for embracing her family during Super Bowl week.

“I love Fox so much because my brother and my dad came to the Super Bowl, and Fox’s family to me, so my own family like sharing in those moments. It was so fun, and Fox just makes them feel so welcome and makes sure they’re included in the events and everything. So I just would be remiss if I didn’t mention how wonderful my extended work family is to my own family,” Thompson added. But her emotional tribute to Vick—and Andrews’s comment—painted a bleak picture. With questions already swirling about Fox possibly losing its MVP trio—Andrews, Thompson, and Vick—another Fox NFL member added to the uncertainty on Monday by posting a goodbye message on Instagram as the 2024 season came to a close.

On February 16, Fox broadcaster Peter Schrager dropped an Instagram carousel that hit harder than a Travis Kelce end-zone spike. The post, captioned “Some photos from Super Bowl LIX. Beyond grateful. Combine in a week!” featured Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, Charissa Thompson, and others. But eagle-eyed fans zeroed in on Erin Andrews’s tearful comment: “Omg I’m crying.” Why the waterworks?

Andrews’ Fox contract expires after 2024, and Thompson’s cryptic goodbye hinted at deeper exits. Meanwhile, the Eagles’ 40-22 Super Bowl win wasn’t just a victory lap—it was Michael Vick’s Fox farewell as well. “Sadly, Michael Vick this is your last show. But you are moving on to become the head coach of Norfolk State,” Thompson said pregame. Vick, now Norfolk State’s head coach, replied, “I’m truly going to miss you guys. Truly going to miss you all. I’m going to make sure I stay in touch without a doubt.” His Fox colleagues later shared a group hug, with Thompson calling him a “class act.”

“I adore you. You are a class act. I love you as a person. I know I speak for all of us,” Thompson said. The dual-threat QB, who inspired Lamar Jackson, traded his mic for a whistle, leaving fans wondering: Can Fox’s chemistry survive this shakeup?

Michael Strahan’s February 12 Instagram added fuel to the fire. His “Until next year!” caption soothed nerves, but photos of emotional embraces screamed Goodbye For Now. Meanwhile, Terry Bradshaw’s retirement countdown looms.

“I’ve got two years left,” Terry said, eyeing 2029’s Super Bowl. At 76, Bradshaw joked, “Everybody wants the new. If we can get to the next Super Bowl on FOX, I’ll be 80. I think that’s time. 80 years old, that’s pushing it.” But his shaky MVP interview with Jalen Hurts had fans whispering, ‘Is it time?’

Fox NFL’s unscripted drama after Super Bowl LIX

With Erin and Charissa’s contract already on the line, we must not forget that if not this year, Terry Bradshaw will also be saying goodbye to the Fox NFL in 2029. His refusal to retire became its own subplot. Yet his determination mirrors The Office’s Michael Scott, refusing to leave Dunder Mifflin. Fans debate: Is Bradshaw’s grit inspiring or cringe? Either way, his shaky hands and name mix-ups (looking at you, Tom Brady) hint that Father Time remains undefeated.

The Fox crew’s bond feels like Avengers: Endgame—will the OG squad reunite, or is this the snap? Andrews redefined sideline reporting with humor and heart, once chasing footballs for Brady and quipping, “Best day of my life.” Thompson’s dual roles made her Fox’s Swiss Army knife. And Vick’s pivot to coaching?

Pure Friday Night Lights vibes. But as Strahan said, “Our paths will cross again.” Maybe. The Fox NFL crew’s post-Super Bowl exits feel like the closing scene of The Dark Knight—bittersweet, uncertain, and ripe for sequels.

Schrager’s gratitude, Vick’s coaching leap, and Charissa Thompson’s cryptic tears weave a tapestry of change. As Bradshaw fights time and Andrews weighs her next move, one truth remains: in sports media, as in life, “Parting is such sweet sorrow” (Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet). Grab the popcorn. The offseason drama’s just getting started.
