The New York Jets are officially out of the playoff conversation. They thought bringing in Aaron Rodgers would work wonders for them; however, luck would have something else in store for this New York team. It’s been about 14 weeks since Rodgers began his road to recovery, but at this point, his return won’t do much good to the Jets.

He appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and shared updates about his injury and how far he has come since the last time he was on the field for the Jets. While it is unlikely, Rodgers previously made efforts to get back on the field and support his struggling team, which was experiencing chaos for numerous reasons.

Tomorrow, it will be 14 weeks since Rodgers’ surgery, as he mentioned in the show segment. Though it’s been a long time, per Rodgers, his being declared 100% injury-free is not happening soon. Per McAfee, Rodgers’ evaluation made sense, but McAfee would still be on board with Rodgers if he were to play with the Jets for the rest of this season.

“If I was a 100% today, I’d be definitely pushing the play, but the fact is I’m not. I’ve been working hard to get close to that. But still, 14 weeks tomorrow to my surgery and being medically cleared as 100% healed is not realistic at 14 weeks,” said Rodgers.

For Rodgers, being activated means going through much trial and error. Many medical tests would have to be done for him to be declared fit to play. He has been having 11-on-11 practice sessions recently, and his performance in those sessions will also be a deciding factor in his return to the field.

Some time ago, Robert Saleh also mentioned that Rodgers was eager to return to the field, but he had a lot of hoops to jump before that happened. The QB’s injury has shifted the perspective about Achilles’ injury for many people. Now, people think an Achilles injury can be overcome in less time than possible before this case.

We will have to wait until the next season before we can expect Rodgers back. However, he has been talking to other players who have gone through the same problem as him.

Rodgers still has a long road ahead of him

He mentioned he shared all the info he has on his injury with players like Kirk Cousins, who also was ruled out of the season. Rodgers said that off-season workouts/summer workouts and returning to play might soon be a probability for him. His rehab and diet might yield wonders for the ailing QB if done correctly.

The QB also mentioned that he believes in his surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache, and his staff and thanked them for being prompt in helping him. By maintaining a good diet and utilizing technology, Rodgers has a chance to return to the field next season.
