The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the most loyal fan bases in the world. That’s the reason on Thursday when Jalen Hurts’s team took over Jayden Daniels‘s Washington Commanders, many flocked to their television to watch their team win. And this set a new record for that game.
According to reporter Mark Maske on X, “The Eagles-Commanders game Thursday night averaged 14.42 million viewers on Amazon Prime Video, according to Amazon.” Yes! The TNF viewership of that Sunday, November 14 game, peaked at a new record, making it one of the top most-viewed regular games in NFL history.
And why shouldn’t it? After all, it was a great close game as Jalen Hurts’s Eagles fought back in the final quarter at Lincoln Financial Field. They scored 20 points in the final quarter to advance to the victory 26-18. However, still, this game wasn’t the most viewed of this season, as it failed to match the other NFC rivals’s game.

Yes! This season, per Prime Video, saw its best “Thursday Night Football” audience in week 4, which was against Giants and Cowboys. With 16.22 million viewers, this one became the Giants-Cowboys rivalry’s first-ever matchup to earn this big this season. But still, the Cowboys and Giants’ Thanksgiving Day game is the highest-viewed regular season game, which accumulated a total of 42.06 million viewers.
And you know the interesting part? The week 4 matchup of 2024, via Sports Journal, also became “the most streamed regular game on record and second-best overall — behind only the 23 million viewers for a Chiefs-Dolphins AFC wild-card game last season.” And with this, the TNF game viewership of the league also increased to “18.1 million viewers from 9:15-9:30 pm ET last Thursday.”
Despite these top viewerships, still they aren’t even close to what happened in 2015!
Was Hurts’ Eagles game the most viewed in NFL history?
According to the reports, the Super Bowl XLIX in 2015 was the most-viewed ever in NFL history. This game recorded a massive 114,442,000 viewers and is also arguably known as one of the best Super Bowl games ever. It was the game played between Russell Wilson and Tom Brady, where the then-Seahawks quarterback was intercepted after his slant throw. With this, the Patriots won the game.

Besides that, the Super Bowl LVII between the Chiefs and again, Jalen Hurts’s Eagles was the second most watched game ever. With 113.06 million viewers tuned in for the game on Sunday, February 12, 2023, the excitement was palpable, as they saw the Chiefs win. Though Jalen Hurts covered 304 yards with one TD in that game, his side lost.
With more upcoming thrills now in the season, it remains to see which game breaks any NFL viewership record.
