The Jacksonville Jaguars are making heists since the offseason started. Under their owner, Shahid Khan, they first went all out to sign their head coach, Liam Coen. The Buccaneers tried hard to convince him to stay as their offensive coordinator, but the Jags snatched him, anyway. Shad Khan said, “I am deeply committed to building a winner here in Jacksonville. I also believe in being judged by actions, not words.” The $4.64 billion franchise has also entered the draft with the same mindset and made a steal. Doing so, they convinced the Browns to forfeit a top two-way prospect they had been linked with for long.
On April 24, the first day of the draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the Jaguars managed to convince the Browns GM Andrew Berry to swap first-round picks. The Browns chose Michigan DL Mason Graham 5th overall while the Jags chose the Colorado WR/CB Travis Hunter, the 20224 Heisman Trophy winner, with their upgraded 2nd overall pick.

The details of the trade are as follow:
- Browns get: 2025 first-round pick (No. 5 overall), 2025 second-round pick (No. 36 overall), 2025 fourth-round pick (No. 126 overall), 2026 first-round pick
- Jaguars get: 2025 first-round pick (No. 2 overall), 2025 fourth-round pick (No. 104 overall), 2025 sixth-round pick (No. 200 overall)
With this move, Andrew Berry has walked the talk. They wanted to secure defensive depth alongside Myles Garrett, and have managed to do so while securing some additional draft capital. Meanwhile, the Jaguars bagged the Heisman winner who is as destructive on defense as he is as an offensive weapon. Interestingly, USA Today had predicted Graham to the Jaguars as the 5th pick. The pick order stayed the same. But the team got exchanged.
The surprise move at the beginning of the 2025 NFL Draft happened within minutes. But Travis Hunter did not miss sending his message across to the league.
What’s your perspective on:
Did the Jaguars outsmart the Browns, or did Cleveland make a savvy long-term play with this trade?

Travis Hunter warns 32 NFL teams
Hunter had issued a warning to the NFL teams just before the draft, looking sharp in a pink suit with a black shirt underneath. When the NFL reporter Kimmi Chex asked him to give a last-minute message before the draft, the rookie laughed and replied with a smirk, “Don’t make a mistake.”

In a lone season with Jackson State and 2 seasons with Colorado, Travis Hunter played 30 games (all started) with 171 receptions for 2,167 receiving yards and 24 touchdowns. He also showed immaculate defensive skills with 9 interceptions, 22 passes defended, 1 fumble recovery, and 80 tackles (58 solo). He would certainly believe he has been drafted at the right number, if not by a team everyone might have expected.
Just a few days before the draft, he had ironically posted photos with the caption, “He’s not the best WR He’s not the best DB He’s OVERRATED GENERATIONAL“. Now that the draft is over for the athlete and he knows his franchise, it’s time to start building his legacy. Fans are waiting to watch him destroy rivals in the NFL.
