Will Russell Wilson get some phone calls for a new home after his Denver Broncos’ exit? This week, the Orange Crush decided to put out an official statement for their quarterback, setting all the releasing rumors true. So now, what’s next for the veteran?
The one-time Super Bowl champ is set to be released by the franchise on March 13. There are rumors that teams might ponder over Wilson, considering his arguably lackluster performance and ‘age,’ before signing him. However, a former Super Bowl Champion, whose 1985 team stands as the Bears’ sole Super Bowl win, and Super Bowl XLIII winner, highlighted certain traits in Wilson that make contacting him a worthwhile consideration.

In a latest episode of NFL on ESPN, Super Bowl XX winner Ron Rivera and Super Bowl XLIII Ryan Clark joined the show to talk about Russell Wilson and his potential new home. When asked about why they think Wilson should be chosen as a starter again in a new team, Rivera replied, “I do see him as a valuable starter mostly because he still has his skill set, he still has good arm, good decision maker. It’s really about finding the right fit as far as the offensive scheme.”
Clark also chimed in with a similar praising for the quarterback, saying, “I mean the big thing is it’s about finding the right fit for the offensive scheme but also for the personality and I’m not one of those people who are going to beat down Russell Wilson and say that he can’t be a leader of the team…. his match with Sean Payton personality-wise and schematically that wasn’t the right fit.” He continued, “And so now moving on, what team needs a bridge quarterback, what team needs a quarterback that can come in and compete with maybe a young starter like a Kenny Pickett and sort of get him going in those competitive juices to have to prove himself in order to be a franchise guy.”
Additionally, discussing the correct spot for Wilson, Rivera vouched for the Atlanta Falcons as the best fit for the QB. However, slightly disagreeing with this, Clark mentioned the Giants as the top spot for Russell. According to him, the team “is absolutely done with Daniel Jones,” and “bringing a guy like Russell Wilson we’ve seen what Brian Daboll can do with quarterbacks and maybe that gives him an opportunity to play within the scheme that helps him and he can use his leadership inside that locker room as a big voice for all those young players.”
So, where will Russell Wilson go?
