Did Randi Mahomes' sacrifices shape Patrick Mahomes into the NFL star he is today?

As much as I say we’re blessed and Patrick’s living his dream, it has been the hardest seven years of my adult life.Patrick Mahomes’ mother, Randi Mahomes said this while explaining the post-success phase that comes with a lot of criticism. However, as they are navigating successfully today, that doesn’t mean her post-divorce life was that easy.

In an episode of The Mom Game Podcast on June 21, Randi Mahomes joined the hosts Julie Dobbs and Emily Jones, to talk about her children, especially her son Patrick. During the show, the 52-year-old confessed that there are times when she has to be selfish while meeting her older son. Randi expressed, “Usually when I see Patrick, and which I’m glad is we’re at his house, but I’m glad because I’m like okay I kind of get them to myself because he’s still my child just like Jackson and Mia. And I’m a little selfish sometimes. I want them for myself. So I want to be able to talk to them and not have anyone around and just be our family.”

Well, that’s obvious for a single mom to wish for a one-on-one time meeting with her children. However, due to busy schedules and fame, especially Patrick, she isn’t able to meet her kids very often. Not only that! Randi craves for her kids time, especially because post-divorce she joined two jobs for two years to outcome the financial battles. And hence, wasn’t able to give much time to her children. But now, as she is free, she craves for that moment once again.

This is evident from her 2021 comments. Randi, who joined the ‘Kent Hance – The Best Storyteller in Texas’ podcast that year, revealed that after her 2006 divorce with Patrick Mahomes Sr., she “worked two jobs for about 10 years and I wish I would have only worked one and not give them as much stuff. I would work nights and weekends and I wish I would have given up that second job and the money that helped provide for them. I just wish I would have just lived a little less.

So now, as she has retired and overcame the financial constraints, Randi wants to spend as much time as she can with Patrick, Jackson and Mia, along with her grandkids and daughter-in-law Brittany Mahomes. She wants her kids all by herself when she’s meeting them.

However, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback’s fame makes it hard a bit as they don’t meet regularly, and whenever they meet, they meet at Patrick’s home. And Randi wants her normal life back!

All that glitters is not gold! This phrase fits well with Randi Mahomes’ son’s post-fame life, where the popularity looks beautiful from the outside, but on the flip, she and her entire family have to battle through a lot of challenges. On the same Mom Game podcast, Randi spoke about how, despite being proud of Patrick Mahomes and the life he’s living, it’s been incredibly hard for her family to navigate all the backlashes. She talked about how these criticisms affects her, her kids, including Patrick himself, and their family life in general.

Randi expressed, “It’s been really hard to juggle…being proud of him and the hate that you get and the kids get. I can’t even explain how hard it’s been. I’ve cried a lot. I struggle with it.” She even mentioned how she envies her friends who have a more “normal” life than her. This is because her friends’ kids, the same age as Patrick and Jackson, don’t have to deal with the pressures of fame, and hence, it makes for the Mahomes “super difficult.

However, now the Mahomes family has been navigating through all the brickbats and the constant spotlight, while feeling proud of where her son Patrick has reached!
