He indulged the reporters about his conversation with Rodgers during the bye week to adjust Wilson’s contract.

He admitted they couldn’t finish the deal, and the management moved on with the season. He then indulged the reporters about Sean Payton’s decision to bench Wilson and change quarterbacks in Week 17.

He acknowledged, “This was a football decision made by Sean, what he thought was in the team’s best interest.” Paton clarified, “This was completely independent of any conversations I had with the agent.” He emphasized that it is solely a football decision that head coach Sean Payton made.
