Jerry Jones’s Cowboys are busy beefing up their team. The season 2025 makeover started with the hiring of the new HC, Brian Schottenheimer. And that’s not the end. They need to figure out gallons of issues, ranging from Dak Prescott’s cap hit to the team culture. Meanwhile, a renowned football analyst has shared an insight for Jerry Jones.
Mike Tannenbaum, who has been the Jets GM and handled the Dolphins’ operations, was in convo with the other reporters. Sharing his two cents on the Cowboys’ current situation, Tannenbaum said, “I would do the deal right now not in a week in the next 10 minutes, because I mean there’s countless examples. But as Myles Garrett does get traded he’ll get a new deal. Trey Hendrickson is going to get a new deal. There’s a lot of pass rushers around the NFL that are going to get new deals. And if I’m from the Jones family, I want [Jerry Jones] to learn from Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb.” Seems like, he was talking about the ‘Micah Parsons issue’ that the Cowboys faced last year with his contract.
Jerry Jones laid landmines for his team in 2024, that may explode now. He gave Dak Prescott a staggering $240,000,000 contract in 2024 that will carry a tremendous level of cap hit. And that’s why re-signing Micah Parsons, who has a base salary of $24,007,000, might become an issue. And guess what? Cowboys will carry a cap space of only $56 million. That’s why experts like Mike Tannenbaum have warned Jones of the future obstacles. Apart from Prescott, CeeDee Lamb also got $136,000,000 from the franchise which was the second-highest in the league after Justin Jefferson. That’s why re-signing Parsons with a balanced deal is the need of the hour.

It’s not just the NFL analyst who is pointing toward the Cowboys’ issues. Micah Parsons is stirring the pot with his strong message to the owner of the Cowboys.
Micah Parsons’s strong message for Jerry Jones
By sending this message, Micah wanted to see a change—or at least a willingness to change—the Cowboys’ record and culture. However, according to sources, Parsons’ suggestions are unlikely to stand against the organization’s lethargic leadership. “I want to see us be aggressive, and I want to see us get players that help us, that come in and have an impact,” he remarked. That’s exactly what every Dallas fan is talking about.

The linebacker also said, “I don’t want to sit back and watch other people build and build and we stay the same, so we definitely need a call to action.” Micah has long been frustrated with the Cowboys’ finance-centered culture, which was reinforced under former head coach Mike McCarthy. Yet, not a single thing has changed in the Cowboys’ camp. That’s a strong urge to make a big change in the team’s culture by one of its key players.

After Super Bowl LIX, the Cowboys legend Troy Aikman was also talking about the same. He implied what Micah Parsons wanted to convince Jerry Jones. “I think I speak for the Cowboys faithful in saying that it’s been a long time. And this is the Dallas Cowboys, it’s an organization that has had a great history and this team has won a lot of games over the years, with different players,” Aikman said.

He also added, “But for whatever reasons they just haven’t been able to get it done in the postseason. I don’t think anybody is happy about that. That’s been part of the Cowboys’ legacy and all it’s stood for for so many years.” Were Aikman and Parsons also talking about Dak Prescott to some extent? Well, it was probably more for the owner, Jerry Jones.
Well, Jerry Jones appointed the new HC after so much drama, and also three more coaches to assist Brian Schottenheimer. The offseason will also unfold more updates for the Cowboys. But the mounting question? Are the Cowboys willing to change from the root to bring back the 90s’ aura? Um, probably not! What do you think?
