Stefon Diggs’ tweeting shenanigans always catch the NFL fans off guard. His latest post came at the expense of QB Josh Allen. A user on X tweeted out “Does Josh benefit from having a top-tier receiver, yes. Is he essential to his success, no.” Rather than ignoring the comment, Diggs took to the comment section and replied with “You sure?” Throughout the last season, we’ve seen the disappointment unfold between the Bills quarterback and their receiver.

But as of April 3, Stefon Diggs is no longer a part of the Buffalo Bills. The WR kept it on a “day-by-day” basis after the Bills succumbed to the 4x Super Bowl-winning champs, the KC Chiefs. But Diggs leaving the Bills has somewhat put Josh Allen’s credibility as a top 5 QB in jeopardy as Nick Wright explains his stance behind the same.

Nick Wright started the conversation on the podcast First Things First by mentioning that he believed he missed the memo when people thought Allen was going to take a “step back.” Per Wright, Allen didn’t have a step to re-trace. He pointed out his average passer ratings over the years and acknowledged the “freight train” Josh Allen. While Allen’s run game’s exceptional character is undeniable, his passing numbers paint a dismal picture, apart from one or two occasions.

The host pointed out Allen’s 2020 season when he ranked 4 in the league with a passer rating of 107.2, and 8 with 96.6 in 2022. But he also brought forth the point that Allen is hyped based on what he could be rather than what he is. “He’s called a top 5 quarterback based on the upside, the highs, and the idea,” said Wright about the QB.

The host pointed out how Josh Allen’s NFL journey has been bittersweet. On one hand, he leads the league in turnovers, and on the other, he’s second to Mahomes in passing TDs. This made Wright think that Allen’s numbers will still be the same this year and people are still going to trust him.

“You know what I think? I think his numbers going to be around the same,” said Wright and added, “I think he’s going to be around the middle of the pack passer rating, have a bunch of touchdowns, a bunch of turnovers, and people are now going to be like you know, look at those weapons, I don’t care what the numbers say, that quarterback in Buffalo is the league’s most valuable player.”

But something surprising surfaced about Josh Allen and the Stefon Diggs trade recently that has caught everyone’s attention.

Josh Allen is oblivious to Bills’ workings!

The Bills GM Brandon Beane agreed to the fact that the team is not doing all that well after their WR was traded to the Texans after 4 years of his tenure. Amidst this, he also mentioned that the QB of the team had not been informed of the decision yet.

“I have not talked to [Allen] since the move. He’s on the West Coast, so probably woke up to whenever that move went down, he might have been asleep. I’ll circle back with him. Josh and I have a pretty regular conversation on things.” Said the GM about informing Allen.

While there are issues in the receiver department, where people like Khalil Shakir, Curtis Samuel, and Mack Hollins are not being able to put up more than 700 yards, the Bills have an upside situation in front of them. Receivers like OBJ, Hunter Renfrow, and Michael Thomas are available for grabs to better the situation of the team. The Buffalo team has the No. 28 overall pick in the upcoming draft, and looking at the situation, they might prioritize getting a receiver as well.
