The football season has officially begun! The Bears–Texans Hall of Fame game is just a trailer for what’s about to come. Exciting times are ahead, and we can’t wait. But some players won’t get to go home after the game ends because there’s something that they must do first. Chicago Bears receiver Tyler Scott has some unfinished business in Cincinnati.
It’s been a year since the Bears receiver joined the big leagues, but unfortunately, he doesn’t have a degree right now. The former Bearcat is returning to his roots and Pete Thamel, an ESPN writer, revealed all about it in his recent post on X.

Pete Thamel took to X and wrote, “Chicago Bears WR Tyler Scott will drive to Cincinnati after the Hall of Fame game tonight for his college graduation from UC. With Cardinals WR Chris Moore also graduating, all 22 Cincinnati Bearcats in the NFL have degrees.”

It’s not clear as to what he studied at the University of Cincinnati, but he’s going back to the campus after the Bears-Texans Hall of Fame game to get his degree. He played 3 seasons with the Bearcats as a receiver and amassed 899 yards and 9 touchdowns in the 2022 season. Hopefully, he’s in for a warm welcome.
Speaking of receiving a warm welcome, you might remember that a couple of months ago, Travis and Jason Kelce went back to the University of Cincinnati to get their degree as well. It’s a common phenomenon. But it’s good to know that all the Bearcats in the NFL have degrees now.

As mentioned earlier, what Tyler Scott is doing isn’t something new. There’s someone else on the New York Jets, a former Bearcat who did the same last year.

In the same tweet, Pete Thamel mentioned how Jets CB Sauce Gardner made the drive after playing against the Cleveland Browns back on August 3, 2023. Thamel replied to his post on X saying, “Sauce Gardner made the same drive last year after the HOF Game to walk in graduation.”

Gardner now has a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary studies from the University of Cincinnati. The reason he went back to get his degree was something noble. Gardner knows that the younger generation looks up to him and he wanted to lead by example.

“The kids,” Gardner said. “Knowing they look up to me and I inspire and motivate them. That was a non-negotiable right there. I had to meet my mom halfway when it came to leaving early, as she really wasn’t a fan of it because it really wasn’t all about the money. She wanted me to get my degree.”
