Randi Mahomes embracing the cowgirl life—Is she the coolest NFL mom out there?

Hold onto your hats, folks! The Mahomes family is riding high on a wave of Texas pride, and leading the charge is none other than Randi Mahomes, the matriarch with a newly minted cowgirl swagger. It seems the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree – or should we say, the football doesn’t fall far from the rodeo arena.

Randi saddled up for a wild ride at the Houston Rodeo in March, proving she’s got as much grit as her superstar son Patrick Mahomes has on the gridiron. Decked out in a top boldly proclaiming “Disco Cowgirl,” paired with a Chanel cowboy hat and white studded boots, Randi wasn’t just attending the rodeo – she was embodying it.

Her Instagram stories lit up with snapshots of her rodeo revelry, capturing everything from Texas Tech riders to her newfound equine friend who, as she put it, “loves me.” Fast forward to August, and Randi’s rodeo fever hasn’t cooled one bit. “When at the rodeo!! Why not?!?” she exclaimed in a social media post, perched atop a rodeo bull at the Cody Stampede.

The Cody Stampede, known as one of the biggest professional rodeos during “Cowboy Christmas,” brings in the cream of the crop in the rodeo world from July 1-4. It’s clear that for Randi, these events are more than just entertainment – they’re a celebration of her Texan roots.

This isn’t just a fleeting fascination for Randi. She kicked off her rodeo adventures at the Houston Rodeo in March, sharing her excitement on social media. “Had an absolute blast at the Houston Rodeo! This East Texas mama felt right at home among the cowboy hats and country tunes,” she posted, adding Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” as the perfect soundtrack to her cowgirl transformation.

They’re part of a larger tapestry of Texas pride that the entire Mahomes family weaves. From Patrick’s statement-making arrivals in cowboy hats to Randi’s full immersion in rodeo culture, the Mahomes clan is showing that you can take the family out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the family. As Randi puts it, she’s “living my best Disco Cowgirl life!” This zest for embracing her heritage isn’t just about having fun – it’s about staying true to who she is, even as her son’s stardom catapults the family into the national spotlight.

The Mahomes family’s Texas-sized impact

Do you remember when Patrick Mahomes came out of that plane in 2019 like he had just walked off some western movie set? This white cowboy hat is just as much about fashion as it is a statement. The Mahomes family’s cowboy metamorphosis goes beyond skin deep.

It speaks to their unyielding love for Texas, which manifests itself both on the football pitch and in the rodeo arena. Although throwing touchdowns for Missouri, Patrick Mahomes remains firmly rooted in the Lone Star State. And besides, rodeo has almost turned into a lifestyle rather than a sport in Texas. In Cody, Wyoming they say “Keeping the Old American West Alive.”

For Randi, these rodeo adventures are part of a new chapter in her life. Recently retired after a 20-year professional career, she’s embracing this new zone with wide arms. She recently gushed on social media, “Bumped into a friend who said I looked very refreshed since retiring. Best compliment to me.” It seems that retirement has given Randi the mindset to fully embrace her Texan roots and cowgirl aura.
