Following in Patrick Mahomes’ Footsteps, Texans Raise $440,000 Through Charity Golf Event

The Houston Texans seem to have taken a page out of Patrick Mahomes‘ golf playbook! With the Chiefs QB’s Las Vegas charity event held just a couple of weeks back, it is now the Texans’ turn to raise funds while enjoying a golf course.

The 21st edition of the annual Charity Golf Classic, first established in 2002, was held on Monday and raised over $440,000 for their community service efforts. Quarterback David Mills, LB Christian Harris, and DT McTelvin Agim were seen trying their hand at putting while their mascot Toro was also present to cheer on the Texans.

The Houston Texans Foundation has been working to empower the youth of the city and has raised over $48 million since 2002. The owner echoed the team’s mission and expressed his delight at the clearing of skies, making the day fit for a fun game of golf .“It’s a beautiful day,” McNair said. He further added, “It rained all weekend. Now we’ve got a nice day for golf. Raising money for charity, Texans charity, which raises money for kids.”

The head coach also appreciated the initiative to help the kids of Houston while admitting that he’s not a great golfer. “No pressure on me, I’m not a big golfer,” said Ryans. “It’s definitely fun for me to be out here supporting the Houston Texans Foundation and all the great work they do in the community, supporting the kids in Houston. It’s outstanding work.”

The charity was a splendid success and another noble effort in the NFL to give back to society. Another non-profit effort organized a golf extravaganza in a star-studded event in Las Vegas: ’15 and the Mahomies Foundation Golf Classic,’ which gave the Chiefs Kingdom some memorable moments of their favorite stars.

Las Vegas witnessed a wholesome gala last month, with a golf charity game held by Mahomes’ organization, with the aim of helping the children of Kansas City. The three-time MVP enjoyed the event with his wife Brittany and children, making for the perfect family day outing. The couple’s daughter, Sterling Skye, enjoyed a golf court ride on the quarterback’s lap while son Bronze leisured in the back seat.

Another NFL couple was in attendance and even managed to raise a massive sum for the Mahomies Foundation! Kelce and Swift went on a double date with the Mahomes before attending the event auction. The tight end sold an unexpected item during the bidding: four Eras Tour tickets! To an uproar of applause from the audience, the popstar’s concert tickets were sold for $80,000 to contribute to children’s welfare.

This offseason has seen several thoughtful initiatives by the stars of the NFL world to help give back to society. Be it sports charity events, spending time with young patients, or endearing social media posts, the world of football always comes up with new, fun ways of contributing to a noble cause.
