The last couple of weeks have not been good for Patrick Mahomes. The QB went into a 2-game losing streak, falling from the top of the AFC charts with the Chiefs. He was also handed a hefty $25,000 fine yesterday after questioning the league’s officiating during the Bills game.

But bitter the doubts, sweeter the reply. Mahomes found his rhythm against the Patriots, and the Chiefs have found a ground after a hard time. The QB’s numbers have shown an improvement from his recent games. Most importantly, it propelled the Chiefs to a 10-point victory.

Bill Belichick‘s Patriots are not even a shadow of their former self, but they still possess a top-tier defense. Keeping his legacy and the threats in mind, Mahomes earlier refused to take the 3-10 side lightly. “He knows tendencies. He’s going to really break it down, what you do well, and try to take that away,” the QB revealed to the media.

However, it looks like Mahomes was just preparing for his hunt. The QB already had a 261-yard, 2-touchdown display for 20-26 by the end of the 3rd quarter. The Patriots, on paper, were always destined to endure heavy damage from the NFL MVP.

In his past 3 games against the side, the QB has an average passer rating of 100.9, 7 touchdowns, and 290.3 yards already, and the 2023 game didn’t seem to be any different either. Despite a couple of problematic weeks, the QB is back to his winning glory.

Redemption for Mahomes following a huge fine

A day ago, Mahomes became the third player to be fined in the season for showcasing his distress with play calls. The QB had an outburst following a ruled-out touchdown that was flagged for wide receiver Kadarius Toney being offside. He even complained to BillsJosh Allen, terming it as the “Worst f***ing call I’ve ever seen”. HC Andy Reid took the same route with his criticisms of the league.

Although he apologized for his words later, it was enough for the NFL to slap a fine of 25k and 50k, on both him and his coach, respectively. But Mahomes’ performance against the Patriots might make him forget about what happened a day ago, especially given the difficult times he’s been through recently. After all, no fine is bigger than landing a win.
