Football in Florida? It’s a big deal. From the sweltering heat to the legendary athletes it produces, the state has a rich history of producing talent. And Palm Beach County? Well, let’s just say the players there know how to bring the heat every season. And now, there’s a new award that’s sure to grab attention. It’s kind of like the Heisman, but it’s got a Lamar Jackson twist that’ll make you take notice. Speaking of which, the Ravens QB had something to say about his upcoming game with Josh Allen.
So here’s the scoop –Palm Beach County football has announced the creation of a new football award in honor of one of its own, Lamar Jackson. (Yes, you read that right!) This new award, formerly known as the ‘561 Heisman,’ is now officially the Lamar Jackson Award. Why? To honor the man’s legacy, of course. “We’re thrilled to announce the creation of the Lamar Jackson Award, honoring the best high school football player in Palm Beach County. Initially known as the ‘561 Heisman,’ we’ve renamed it to specifically honor the legacy of a Palm Beach County great, Lamar Jackson. This award celebrates excellence on and off the field, inspired by his remarkable achievements. @new_era8,” said a post shared by @561Showcase on their official Instagram page.

This must be a proud moment for Lamar Jackson. After all, it’s where he started his journey before making it to the big league. The Ravens QB has had an outstanding season, putting up career-best numbers with over 4,100 passing yards and 900 rushing yards. What’s even crazier is that he’s thrown more than 1,000 extra yards compared to when he won MVP back in 2019. (And people labeled him a choker when the season kicked off). Lamar sure knows how to silence the critics.
Anyway, a big test still lies ahead for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens. You probably already know what we’re talking about. Yep, it’s the Ravens vs. Bills game this Sunday evening. As both teams gear up to clash, Lamar Jackson has already made his feelings clear about Josh Allen.
Lamar Jackson says he is not ‘friends’ with Josh Allen
Back in September, when the Ravens hosted Josh Allen and the Bills at M&T Bank, let’s just say they weren’t exactly kind. Lamar Jackson and the crew took them down 35-10. So, if there’s ever been a chance for some revenge, this is it for Josh Allen, especially after the Ravens’ defense shut him out from scoring even a single TD. This time, he’s hosting John Harbaugh’s team at Highmark Stadium on Sunday evening. Now, with the home-field advantage on their side, Allen’s got the upper hand.
The stakes are high for this one, as the winner will be one step closer to the championship. Ahead of this big game, Lamar Jackson was asked what if he met with Josh Allen during the offseason. Lamar made it crystal clear, ‘he is not laughing with his foes.’ Guess Lamar’s not about that offseason friendship when it comes to rivals. It’s all business on the field for him. “I don’t really chill with people in the offseason, especially not other QBs,” Jackson told reporters. “Don’t get me wrong. There’s no problem, but we’re competing against each other. Like, I’m trying to beat you. I’m not trying to be your friend.”
