No one is thrilled with the never-ending waiting game between Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. “I’m not doing that darkness retreat. I don’t need any of that crap… Either you want to be a [Pittsburgh] Steeler or you don’t. [That’s simple,] that’s the pitch.” Last week, Cam Heyward expressed his frustration with the free agent quarterback. However, he clarified his stance after getting backlash from many, expressing that “anybody who signs, I welcome to the team.” This also came after A-Rod visited the Steelers’ facility on his own for the very first time.

As per the reports, Aaron Rodgers talked to the coaches and staff of the Steelers’ facility on Friday for what turned out to be a six-hour visit. Despite showing a strong interest, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that no deal is imminent. Hence, as the sand slips through the fingers slowly, the frustration of the people is growing. But all of a sudden, amidst this chaos, a new report has come out that might give fans some relief for a while.

Aaron Rodgers might be the new captain for the Steelers. We are not just saying on the basis of his six-hour-long meeting with the team and their promise to be in touch. Instead, the speculation came from Steelers’ tight end Pat Freiermuth’s revelation, where he mentioned his recent contact with the quarterback.

During an appearance on 93.7 The Fan on Tuesday, Pat Freiermuth unveiled that he is connected with Aaron Rodgers via direct messages. Speaking to the hosts, Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller of the radio show, he said, “Yeah, I’ve been in contact.” The contact here doesn’t mean through phone messages, as the TE mentioned he doesn’t have Rodgers’s phone number. Instead, it’s his social media account that is helping him to connect with the quarterback. And the reason behind it is simple – “It’s not his phone number. I’ve just been DM-ing on my Instagram. I haven’t gotten past the DM phase.”

Pat Freiermuth is not used to messaging on phones in the social media world. Perhaps, Rodgers too is okay with it, as he is replying to his messages on the platform. Besides this, Freiermuth didn’t elaborate on anything, again leaving the speculators with a question mark.

But a recent signing of another strong free agent quarterback surely drops a hint that Aaron Rodgers might sign with the Steelers.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Aaron Rodgers the missing piece for the Steelers, or just another distraction in the making?

Russell Wilson opens the door for Aaron Rodgers and Steelers’s marriage?

For about an entire month, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers’s future cards continued to go back and forth. Sometimes it was the Steelers. Sometimes the Giants, and the rest of the time with the Vikings. Minnesota backed off soon after putting their faith in JJ McCarthy. But the Steelers and Giants continued the race. And now, New York has made a major decision first.

The Giants signed Russell Wilson on a one-year contract worth up to $21 million, including a solid $10.5 million guaranteed. Minutes after this news broke on the internet, the 36-year-old QB shared a story of his new signing and wrote, “Been here before.. can’t wait to do it again #MetLife @nygiants.” Wilson’s only Super Bowl win was in the town of the Giants. So, now that he is back in NY, he wants to recreate that history once again. On the other hand, with this new deal, Wilson opened the doors to Pittsburgh for Aaron Rodgers.

It’s likely that the Steelers were waiting for Wilson to sign a team, and now that he is finished with it, it’s time for Aaron Rodgers to make a move. As the situation is getting intense and somewhat in favor of the veteran QB, it’s quite possible that we might see the four-time MVP in a black and gold jersey in 2025.
