It has been a month since the Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Philadelphia Eagles, and yeah, the pain still lingers. But, it’s the offseason now, and the players are grinding and transforming themselves to gear up for the upcoming season of the championship. While Chiefs fans were still recovering from the loss, two of their biggest star players – Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce – decided to show up and steal away their hearts. And, honestly? Who wouldn’t like how they look? Who’s complaining?
First, Patrick Mahomes steps out looking ridiculously sassy in the new look and now Travis Kelce, too? Like seriously – why don’t they just shoot an arrow directly through our hearts? Patrick stole the show with his new haircut, as he finally decided to chop off those beautiful curls. He opted for a shorter, more polished, and neater look. These transformations are making waves for sure – but they aren’t just about style. They definitely hint at new beginnings. A fresh start. And it sure is refreshing enough for the Chiefs fans – and also a good distraction from the loss.
Travis usually keeps his hair in a close-cropped fade and his beard – not too long, not too short, just the right length to maintain that polished yet rugged look. But during the NFL season last year, he rocked a longer hairstyle with a thick beard – full-on Vikings style. His hair often fell around his eyes during the games and his beard complimented the rough and tough look. But, the long hair and full beard era has come to an end – end of an era? We don’t think so.

Because he has yet again stunned fans with his new look. And he made it extra special for his fans by giving everyone front-row seats to the transformation – as Vince Garcia posted a video on his Instagram, giving the tight end a makeover. In the clip, Travis is seen clapping as Vince puts a red-coloured Chief’s hair-cutting cape over him. This time, he decided to go for a more sharp, more polished haircut with a barely there beard. It’s almost like the Chiefs’ stars are setting an off-season hair code – clean, sharp, and ready to dominate.
The same video was reposted by a fan page of Jason and Travis Kelce, and adding to the adorable look and the video, the song choice is making his fans go all kinds of crazy. The song is Gorgeous by Travis’ long-term girlfriend, Taylor Swift, and indeed he looks Gorgeous – couldn’t agree more, Taylor.
The fan’s reactions are pouring in from everywhere, one of them commented, “Taylor you got a cutie. My goodness, my heart just skipped a beat.” Another wrote, “Trav is looking rested and rejuvenated.” Safe to say, Chiefs Kingdom is very invested in this glow-up era. But Travis’s transformation isn’t just about the looks, as it comes right after the rumours concerning his retirement plans.

What’s next for Travis Kelce?
With the next season just around the corner, these transformations have given some hope to the Chiefs fans – especially after the rollercoaster of emotions they’ve been through. First, the Chiefs lost at the Super Bowl LIX, which crushed their dream of scoring a hat trick. Then, the retirement rumours of Travis had everyone from the Chiefs Kingdom on edge.
Travis didn’t exactly calm the rumours when he addressed them on the New Heights podcast—if anything, he just added more fuel to the fire. Where the tight end went on to say, “I know everybody wants to know whether or not I’m playing next year. Right now, I’m just kicking everything down the road…I’m kicking every can that I can down the road. I’m not making any crazy decisions, but right now, the biggest thing is just being there for my teammates and being there for my coaches, understanding that there’s a lot that goes into this thing.”
He kept things pretty vague, saying, “I think I’m gonna take some time to figure it out,” Kelce said. “I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back, it’s going to be something that it’s a wholehearted decision, I’m not half-assing it, I’m fully here for them. I think I can play. It’s just whether or not I’m motivated or it’s the best decision for me as a man, as a human, as a person to take on all that responsibility.”

But finally, the Chiefs Kingdom can take a sigh of relief, as on the recent podcast, Travis addressed his retirement buzz with certainty, as Jason (his brother) went on to say, “We have to address the huge news that you are coming back this year. Is it because you have seen me in retirement, you are like f___ that.” To which Travis replied, “I think you have handled it perfectly, Jason. I think you have thrived outside of missing an Eagle Super Bowl.”
Jason further went on to explain that he wants to understand why Travis is going out there again, risking injury and making less money than he could make not playing football. The witty tight end said, “That was kind of the one I had to juggle with…I think the biggest thing is that I f_____ love playing the game of football.”
He added, “I still feel like I could play it at a high level. Ummm and possibly at a higher level than I did last year. I don’t think it was my best outing.” In 2024, Travis got a two-year extension with the Chiefs for a huge paycheck – $34.25 million – making him the highest-paid tight end in the NFL. In Super Bowl LIX, he set an NFL record for most Super Bowl receptions (35) beating the record of Jerry Rice (33). However, the Chiefs did end up losing the game to the Eagles.

And till they don’t see their favourite tight end on the field, they will surely get to watch him off the field just chilling with his brother Jason on the New Heights podcast.
At the end of the day, what matters to the fans is they will get to see their star tight end on the field in action. And with his new look, we see new beginnings for the Chiefs – his comeback season is going to be worth watching. Whether it’s football, podcasting or the new look, Travis always knows how to put on a great show.
