Alright, looks like someone’s wallet just got a little lighter, thanks to the Bills’ playoff performance. Or should we say, otherwise—at least according to Dave Portnoy, that is? The reason? Well, it’s not a Christopher Nolan movie. The Barstool Sports founder bet $1 million on the Bills to rake in a whopping $5.5 million if they had won. And the rest is history.

He started a social media war against the refs over that controversial fourth-down decision in the early fourth quarter of the conference championship. But here’s the twist. The Chiefs’ linebacker, Drue Tranquill, hopped on his official ‘X’ handle and fired back on Portnoy. “Should have taken your $1M from #TrumpCoin and take a nice vacation,” Tranquill stated. And that’s not all. He also cleared his stance on that controversial decision for the Bills QB. “He didn’t get & you know it.”

Well, we don’t know if Portnoy knows it or not, but Clark Hunt’s wife, Tavia Hunt, surely does. A few hours ago, Tavia shared Tranquill’s post on her Instagram Story and fired back at the Barstool Sports founder. “@druetranquill This is epic!! No—he didn’t get it,” she said on Josh Allen’s fourth-down decision. “America has reviewed it and the ruling on the field stands.”

The ruling stands, indeed. That’s one of the reasons the Bills are not in the Super Bowl, right? Let’s talk about that controversial ruling. At one point early in the fourth quarter, the Bills were up 22-21, and Josh Allen appeared to have just pulled off a game-changing fourth-down conversion. But then, the refs stepped in and ruled him short.

Now, here’s where things get juicy. Despite a booth review, the ruling stood due to insufficient evidence of overturn. In Tavia Hunt’s words, America has reviewed it and the ruling on the field stands. What happened next? Patrick MahomesChiefs did what they were best at. They seized the opportunity and turned the stop into a touchdown. There you go. That’s how Portnoy’s war against the refs started on social media.

Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs made Portnoy quit watching football

The fourth quarter of the conference championship was a total nightmare for the Bills. First, there was that controversial fourth-down call, then came Dalton Kincaid’s fumble on another crucial fourth down. One thing after another, and before they knew it, the Chiefs had handed them a heartbreaking 32-29 loss in a wild, nail-biting finish. But for Dave Portnoy, the game was finished in the early fourth-quarter.

Hence, the Barstool Sports founder unleashed his frustration on the refs on his official ‘X’ handle. Spoiler alert: that fourth-down ruling made him quit watching football. “Refs should be in f—— prison!” Portnoy said in the video he posted. “This is clearly a first down. It’s like, not even f—— close … This is the most disgusting thing. I’m not watching football ever again. I quit football.” And that folks is, how the Buffalo Bills have lost one of their fans.

What’s your perspective on:

Did the refs really rob the Bills, or is Portnoy just a sore loser with $1M down?

But if you’re thinking that his frustration is limited to the refs only, then sorry to break it down, that’s not true. Look, it hurts when your favorite team loses. But in case of Portnoy? Yeah, it stings when you drop $1 million on a team, and then a few bad calls come along and completely crush your chances of a big payday. Speaking of those bad calls, Portnoy didn’t shy away from calling out on the Bills’ head coach, Sean McDermott, especially for running a poorly executed “tush push” play on fourth down.

“McDermott should be in prison, the Bills coach… Do they not know what a tush push is? You put two f—— huge guys in and you push!” he went off. “Yeah, the refs f—– you. Yeah, the tush push absolutely the dumbest.” Frustration is definitely real, and let’s be honest, Portnoy’s not the only one dealing with this letdown. Hundreds of thousands of fans watched their dreams get shattered right in front of them. But the harsh reality is, no matter how bad it stings, they can’t change the outcome.
