As the Eagles defeated the Chiefs on Sunday, congratulations poured in from around the world. Among them was Jason Kelce, who shared a congratulatory message for his former team. It was a bittersweet victory for the elder Kelce sibling, as he was happy his team had gotten their revenge and won the Super Bowl, but his brother had lost arguably the biggest game of his career.

Nevertheless, this didn’t stop the Eagles legend from sharing several pictures on social media to congratulate the Eagles. To the surprise of many though, Kelce took down that post, leaving everyone wondering why.

Well, the 37-year-old didn’t want any rumors to fester, so he took to X to explain his decision. Kelce wrote, “I had Jake take that graphic down because that post had too many pictures of me. I wanted the post to be reflective of the guys who just won, not me. I didn’t win shit in this one, it felt weird to congratulate this team with a bunch of pictures of me.” The original post came from the “New Heights” account, and while some believed outside pressure (the hate comments from the Chiefs and the Swifty fans) played a role in its removal, Kelce’s reasoning was much simpler—it just didn’t feel right to make it about himself.

Kelce might have removed the earlier post, but he did eventually share another message to congratulate his former team. He wrote, “Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles, my former teammates, and friends on being SB LIX Champions!!” He even mentioned how the game was a bag of mixed emotions for him, as he wanted the Eagles to win, while also wanting his brother to do well. He had expressed those mixed emotions even before kickoff, making it clear that this was a win—and a loss—he would feel deeply.

The Eagles legend especially mentioned Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni and praised the Eagles for being the best team in the NFL this season. “I am very proud for Jalen Hurts, Nick Sirianni, and this entire team. They have persevered greatly, answered their critics amazingly, and proved themselves to be undoubtedly the best team this season.”

Kelce complemented the Eagles for their grit and toughness and eventually expressed his love for the game, the people who play it, and the fans who make it all so special.

Jason Kelce had some special words for his brother

Yes, Jason Kelce is a die-hard Eagles supporter and will be for the rest of his life, but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t upset for his brother. The Eagles legends had some words for Travis Kelce, praising his brother and even complementing the Chiefs for their achievements. In the new post that he shared on X he wrote, “As for my brother, There isn’t a person I love or care about more. It has been tough to process these feelings, of course I feel for him and am always rooting for him, but I know he does not need, nor want my pity.”

He emphasized that his brother has reached greatness few could ever imagine, and even mentioned how the Chiefs didn’t succeed this time, but their status as one of the most powerful teams in NFL history endures. The former Eagles star wrote, “He has amassed greatness few on this planet could ever dream of, as has his team, and they should feel pride in their accomplishments this season and in the past.”

Jason Kelce’s message perfectly captured all the emotions he felt after the Eagles’ Super Bowl win. He was thrilled for his former teammates and proud of their perseverance, yet he also empathized with his younger brother and his team. Also by removing his initial post, he showed humility, allowing the focus to stay on the players who achieved the victory.

Kelce’s words simply showcased his love for the sport, his respect for both teams and his admiration for the fervor and dedication that make football so remarkable. As Philadelphia celebrates its championship, Kelce continues to be a devoted supporter, honoring both his former team’s success and his brother’s lasting excellence.
