The Baltimore Ravens were compelled to taste defeat by the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. With this loss, Lamar Jackson’s team failed to keep pace with the AFC North-leading Steelers, sitting second with 8 wins and 5 losses. However, the worst came when the quarterback’s momma appeared upset at her son’s performance.
During a recent post-game press conference, Lamar Jackson admitted that his mother, Felicia Jones, gave him a harsh, curse-filled reprimand after the game. He said, “My mom is just mad (at me).” This made the reporters laugh a bit. However, only Jackson knew the fear after his mother’s unhappiness.
He even added his mother’s point, by saying, “My momma just told me [I should’ve run more]. She just cussed me out, so I’m mad. … She said there was lanes I should’ve took and ran, but you know I was just trying to let guys develop routes and I was just trying to go through my progressions. But yeah, she’s right.”

Lamar Jackson’s mother, Felicia Jones, is a former basketball player. However, later she also said to Jackson, “Go back there and play football with us.” Jones has definitely been a pillar of support for her child, even being an agent for him for the contract talks. And obviously, seeing her child at the losing stage can make any mother go mad.
So, this was the case with Lamar Jackson too, who fell short in the Eagles game at their home ground, M&T Bank Stadium. Jackson finished off the game by rushing eight times for 79 yards. And guess what? He came incredibly close to matching Derrick Henry’s total (82), falling just three yards short of leading the team in rushing yards. After this, the quarterback tried to explain his point.
Lamar Jackson explained why he wasn’t able to run!
Lamar Jackson’s hesitation to run in the game definitely felt unusual. Even the broadcasters of that matchup highlighted the open lanes that he normally wouldn’t miss. But according to the Ravens’ quarterback, decisions weren’t easy while facing the Eagles’ dominant defense, ranked No. 1 overall and seventh against the run game.

Hence, to Jackson, passing probably felt safer than challenging their powerful front seven. However, Jackson still delivered. He ran for over 70 yards for the third time this season, averaging an impressive 9.9 yards per carry. But ultimately, the Ravens hit a wall in the red zone. They came close twice, only to walk away empty-handed as Justin Tucker, usually a clutch, missed two crucial kicks. Hence, all these plays led to frustration, despite their 372 total yards.
