Dan Campbell‘s Lions have ended the season after a divisional defeat from Washington Commanders in a 31-45 game. And wasting no time, moving of crucial pieces across the board has started. Whether it’s the OC, DC, or roster, the Lions’ pride is not going to be the same as it was for the 2024 season. Dan Campbell may have to start the offseason without his two important companions.
“I do know his interest in the Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, and Jacksonville Jaguars jobs is real.” These were the exact words of NFL analyst Albert Breer one day ago when talking about OC Ben Johnson‘s Lions future. And it happened. The Chicago Bears hired Ben Johnson. He spent three seasons as the Lions’ OC since 2022. Johnson has been working with the Lions since 2019 when Dan Campbell was not even in the building.
Ben Johnson is leaving the Lions to coach the Bears.

Other than Ben Johnson, Campbell is gonna lose one more colleague in the upcoming days. It’s none other than his right hand, Aaron Glenn. Glenn is in competition with Joe Whitt Jr. and 14 others for the New York Jets HC job as the franchise is busy taking interviews. Aaron Glenn has been working with the Lions as a defensive coordinator since 2021. But now, as he looks to move on, he wants to be with his earlier franchise.
In 1994, the Jets drafted the current Lions DC. Glenn’s career with the Jets from 1994 to 2001 as a player signifies the relationship he has with Woody Johnson and Christopher Johnson. But… there is one problem for Aaron Glenn. As New York reporter John Jastremksi, said, he wants a candidate to take the Jets HC job who has experience as an HC. But 53-year-old Glenn does not have HC experience.
But as pieces of the board move quickly, people are criticizing HC Dan Campbell for the OC’s departure and DC’s potential departure.
Lions fans take a jab at Dan Campbell
One fan reacted to the news of X saying, “Don’t believe that. Dan Campbell is just a meathead h** pom pom waving Tony Robbins who is in touch with his feminine side with all the crying, emotions 😂.. Ben the real genius.” While another has praised Ben Johnson and already predicted how the next season for Campbell’s Lions is gonna be without him.

The fan said, “I still believe that Dan Campbell is NOT a good head coach and with the loss of Ben Johnson I believe the Lions will flatline next season.” He hilariously continued, “That being said, if the Lions win 10+ games next season I will get a tattoo of Dan Campbell’s face with the Lions record next season and I will only be a Campbell truther from then on out.” The context being that the Lions winning 10 games for back-to-back seasons has happened for the first time in history. A third in a row would be legendary!
Another fan took a jab saying, “And now their window is closed. OC has already left and to a divisional rival. DC is most likely gone as well. All the Dan Campbell yelling and chest-beating isn’t going to win games.” Terrible! The fans have turned against Jim losing in the divisional game. Fans had high hopes that the Lions would win the Super Bowl with the form they showed in the regular season. But that’s all over now!
