Aaron Rodgers and his legacy in the NFL are unmatched. Given the accolades and honor pouched by the 4x NFL MVP, to receive a comparison with the legend is one thing but to get identified on a similar level of talent, is truly a glory. One that Jordan Love received recently from Falcons former QB Matt Ryan. It has not just been the recent practice that drew out the compliment. Rather, Love’s phenomenal playoff debut left the former professional “impressed.”

Reflecting on the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers clash, ex-QB of the Falcons revealed that Love’s throws reminded him of A-Rod. Despite the “tough loss,” the legend felt the need to acknowledge the talent. I mean, it was a tough loss for the Packers,” said the former star via PackersNews. “But he [Love] made a couple throws during that game that reminded me so much of Aaron. The ability to move outside the pocket, to throw from kind of off-platform situations, and deliver the velocity and accuracy he did, I was really impressed.

The 1st round pick of the 2020 draft sat behind Rodgers for his first three seasons, and it seems to have done well for him. In the 2023 season, he delivered 32 TDs for 4,159 yards with a passer rating of 96.1 in 17 games. This performance has just opened the gates for what the young QB is capable of delivering. Shedding light on areas of improvement, Ryan said the next step for Love should be “cleaning up the little things” that will come from experience.

To fulfill his full potential, Ryan further added, “Just cleaning up some of those simple things, being a little bit consistent, I think if he can do that, the sky’s the limit.” Nonetheless, if Jordan Love received a comparison with Aaron Rodgers, it is a step in the positive direction. After all, the veteran is known for his deep throws and leading his team to great success. In fact, there have been other professionals who received a comparison to the Super Bowl champion (XLV).

This includes QBs like Trubisky and Zach Wilson. Concerning the former, coach Lynn said, “Just watching him on the field, he made throws, he had a quick release. He reminded me sometimes of Aaron Rodgers, the way he moved around. If he ever got in a bind, he could create. I thought he had the total package.” Now, it is Jordan Love’s turn to capitalize on these praises as he has worked under legendary Rodgers. Taking lessons from the veteran, combined with Jordan Loves’ skills and work, several former NFL legends have high hopes for the young quarterback, including Tom Brady.

While Love got a late start to his career as the starter and had a chance to lead the team, Brady thinks all of it was for the best. According to the former New England Patriots QB, despite having to stay in Rodgers’ shadow for three seasons, mentorship has been of utmost benefit to the 25-year-old.

He [Jordan Love] had Aaron Rodgers to watch,” said Brady on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. “That’s the best type of training, in my opinion. Watch someone else do it at a very high level and then try to emulate them with your own personality.”

Brady also opined that it’s a misconception that rookies can turn into excellent players right out of the draft. “Maybe a little bit of a misnomer with the draft is that these players can come in and all of the sudden become this great professional player before they’ve really had the training and the development.
