Rumors in the NFL world spread faster than a no-huddle offense. One minute, two quarterbacks are spotted enjoying a ski trip. And the next, the internet has them drawing up playbooks for a secret team meeting. And that’s exactly what happened when Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford were seen together.

The Rams QB’s NFL career is taking a different route, according to various rumors. First, his wife, Kelly Stafford‘s emotional IG post sparked retirement rumors after Philly kicked them out in the divisional round. Then, reports claimed that the Rams might trade him. Some analysts saw him as the missing piece in the Jets’ puzzle, while others viewed the Raiders as a perfect fit for him.

Tom Brady’s agent clears the air on Matthew Stafford

Alright, so the rumor mill went into overdrive after people spotted Matthew Stafford with the Pats‘ legendary QB Tom Brady at a ski resort in Montana. And how could it not create madness in the NFL world? Brady, who owns a slice of the Raiders, has been quite active in the team’s affairs this season. So when people saw the two QBs they started connecting the dots – ‘Oh, Brady’s recruiting Stafford for the Raiders.Enter Tom’s agent, Don Yee, who shattered the dreams of all those who were wishing for this to be true. “I know that reporters sometimes make mistakes in their haste, but this story is inaccurate.”

So, if you were picturing Matthew donning the Raiders jersey, it’s time for you to stop. And also, we have to thank NFL Network‘s Tom Pelissero, who spoke to Brady’s agent to dig out the truth. Now, if that’s the case, you might be wondering what the two were doing in the same place. Was it just a coincidence that they bumped into each other?

Well, it seems so. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that both Brady and Stafford own homes in the same ski community. Heck, he even went to war over it. So, of course, it’s likely they simply crossed paths while enjoying a snowy vacation. But the other party to that fight, FOX’s Jordan Schultz, believes otherwise.

What’s next for the Rams QB?

Well, now that the rumors of Matthew joining the Raiders have been put on ice, the question remains: which team will he play for in the 2025 season? The Rams and Stafford are in a bit of a standoff over the QB’s contract. Matthew’s journey with the Rams started in 2021 with a whopping $160 million four-year deal. And back then, all that money they rained on the former Lions QB seemed worth it as he led them to a Super Bowl LVI win. Now, the situation is that Matt has been wanting to renegotiate his deal, asking to be paid $50 million per year. But the Rams do not look so comfortable meeting their QB’s demands.

Stafford currently pockets $40 million annually. So, following this disagreement between both parties, the team has reportedly agreed to Stafford’s agent exploring trade options. And that’s where the whole saga of Matthew Stafford joining the Raiders or Jets started. Woody Johnson‘s team is currently without a QB after parting ways with Aaron Rodgers for good. So, they might consider a trade option with the Rams, given Matthew’s performance this season.

Raiders… well, now that Brady’s agent has shut down the rumors, it’s better to leave them out of the options for a while. If you take agents’ words at face value, that is. The Giants are also looking for a QB. So could John Mara be interested in starting fresh with the Rams QB? Well, so many questions, but only the Rams have the answer. So, maybe wait and see what Les Snead and Sean McVay have to say at the NFL Scouting Combine.
