The Lions are literally chewing the Bucs! The NFL is known for having some of the craziest fans of any sport. Today the Detroit Lions may have just made the case that their fans are really passionate about their team. The last matchup was the Lions’ first home playoff game in 3 decades! And their win over the Cowboys was their first playoff win in 32 years.
However, the Bucs are different. And it seems the Lions are leaving no stone unturned in trying to poke the bear. After CJ Gardner’s sharp remarks against the Bucs’ quarterback, Baker Mayfield, the local zoo is keeping the insults going.

The Lions’ fever is taking up their home city by storm. MLFootball released a “WILD” video on X. It was a screen grab of a video released by the Detroit Zoo itself. What was in the video? It showed two lions in a glass enclosure tearing apart the Bucs. No, not the team themselves, but a ball-shaped toy with the Buccaneers’ logo.

The video was originally posted on Facebook. The post was amusingly captioned, “These lions had a little added motivation during their daily enrichment activity.” The post also featured a sincere request to the Lions. What was it? “Beat the Bucs”.
If the Lions do manage to beat the Bucs, they will make it to the NFC Championship game. And that hasn’t happened since 1991! The Zoo’s attempt at taking a jibe at the Bucs isn’t new, actually. Safety CJ Gardner started the process a week ago.

Gardner is known for his sharp tongue. And obviously, he had to trash-talk the Buccaneers ahead of their game. He was casually speaking to reporters about how the Rams had such tough wideouts. Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, to be exact. Then he moved on to his future game with the Bucs. And he aimed his crosshairs at Baker Mayfield.
“If you give that Tampa group a good quarterback, that’s a great group,” he quipped. Apparently, this “great group” composed of Mike Evans, Russell Gage, and Chris Godwin. But then, Mayfield was not one to take the insult lying down. He clapped back at him.“I don’t think he’s really watched film because he mentioned Russell Gage,” Mayfield said. And he was right. Gage hasn’t played all season due to a season-ending injury during training camp.
