This year has been rough for the Kansas City Chiefs. Well, they started strong with some solid wins, but their failure to secure the three-peat flipped everything upside down. But the disappointment didn’t stop there. Off the gridiron, two of KC’s big names have had their personal lives take a ride on the rollercoaster. Chris Jones parted ways with his longtime partner, Sheawna Weathersby, after nearly a decade together. Meanwhile, WR Xavier Worthy got tangled up in a legal mess with his ex-fiancée, Tia Jones.
Not the kind of headlines the Chiefs were hoping to make. Now comes a twist no one saw coming: a new milestone in Tia’s life unexpectedly pulled both these exes into the same spotlight. And this was a crossover no one had on their bingo card. On Thursday, Tia Jones clocked an impressive 12.63 to take the win in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Kingston Grand Slam meet. The track and field star is currently dealing with a messy legal battle with ex-fiancé Xavier Worthy, but that didn’t stop her from showing up and showing out on the track. Flo Track shared the win with a joint Instagram post alongside Tia. And that’s when things took an unexpected turn in the comments.
None other than Sheawna Weathersby, ex-partner of Chiefs star Chris Jones, popped in to show some love. “IKTR (emojis),” she wrote, cheering Tia on. The 24-year-old replied to Sheawna, dropping two pink heart emojis.

Jones was competing against some of the finest Olympic royalty out there, Danielle Williams and Jasmine Camacho-Quinn. Williams came in second with a tight 12.70, right on Tia’s heels. She was running like she had more than just her competitors to outrun. The 24-year-old ran like she had to sprint past every bit of the personal chaos, the legal drama, and the emotional weight chasing her.
Later, the track star gave a little insight into what the win meant to her.
Tia Jones speaks her heart post-race
Earlier this week, just days before her big race, Tia Jones broke her silence amid the ongoing courtroom chaos with ex-fiancé Xavier Worthy. She posted a photo from the SEC Championship on Instagram, captioning it with a pointed verse: “Proverbs 12:22.” The scripture reads, “Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal faithfully are His delight.”

And after clocking a blazing 12.63, Jones let the emotions pour out in her post-race interview. “I’ve been a bunch of adrenaline. I have faith,” she said. “Something was telling me maybe I was going to be able to get into the race and just be prepared. I walk in faith. So, I was just grateful to be stepping on the line. As soon as I step on the line, it’s time to get to the money.“

Tia and Xavier started dating last year in March. Worthy proposed to her on July 9. And last month, after almost a year, things got ugly between the two as Tia filed an assault lawsuit against the Chiefs WR, accusing him of domestic violence. Worthy fired back, filing a lawsuit against her for defaming him and damaging property.
The next court hearing is scheduled for April 17. For now, both sides seem to be holding their ground, under and outside the spotlight.
