The Philadelphia Eagles’ Jordan Mailata knows the challenge of facing Patrick Mahomes on the field. In an exclusive chat with EssentiallySports, the Australian/Samoan Mailata, who came from the rugby league after playing for the South Sydney Rabbitohs before transitioning to America to play football, revealed why Mahomes is dangerous on the field.
Last year, the Kansas City Chiefs faced a close Super Bowl battle against the Eagles. Mahomes and other key players in the Red Army brilliantly pulled off a 35-38 victory and showed prowess at Hard Rock Stadium. Now, once again, the Chiefs are into the Super Bowl, aiming to win their fourth Lombardi on Sunday. Patrick Mahomes’ last year’s Super Bowl rival, offensive tackle Mailata, has now come up with a warning for the Chiefs’ upcoming rival, the San Francisco 49ers.

Eagles OT Jordan Mailata joined for an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports to promote the upcoming Australian NRL Telstra Premiership season. The NRL season will kick off in America for the first time, in the Super Bowl LVIII host city, Las Vegas. Jordan Mailata is also a part of this 2024 season-opening doubleheader, which will kick off on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Allegiant Stadium. The Sea Eagles will face the Rabbitohs, while the Roosters will compete against the Broncos. This Australian rugby game will be exciting and different from the traditional game, as no helmets, pads, or timeouts will be there. Here’s the video for the exciting season ahead.
Mailata, speaking to EssentiallySports, discussed the NRL and praised Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. He warned the 49ers, who will face Mahomes and his squad on February 11, about the Chiefs’ performance. Mailata responded that there were concerns about the Chiefs earlier in the season, but they have come on strong, especially in the playoffs.
Mailata emphasized the Chiefs’ reliability on the run game, their strong offensive line, and talented running backs, saying, “They can power the ball through the middle.” He praised Mahomes, stating, “I mean, ‘Mahomes is Mahomes.’ So one day, when all is said and done, he’s going to be talked. He’s already been talked about being one of the greatest already in his seven years of NFL career.“

Mailata added, “So you can never, what we learned last year, you can never count him [Mahomes] out. Like he’ll make plays, if you let him, if you don’t have somebody looking after, like playing spy on him. It’s gonna be hell. It’s gonna be hell for you.”
Undoubtedly, Mahomes has become the biggest name in the league. After four years, his battle is against the San Francisco 49ers for a rematch in Super Bowl LVIII.

Patrick Mahomes is someone who can pull off a victory even when he is injured. He can defeat opponents even when there seems less chance in a game, so he can also pull off a win over the 49ers.
However, to win, the Chiefs must cover the 49ers’ primary advantage: their wide receivers, such as Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle, or Deebo Samuel. Mahomes will indeed have a challenging day and probably rely heavily on Isiah Pacheco.
