The Philadelphia Eagles’ offensive tackle Jordan Mailata doesn’t believe the blame lies on Nick Sirriani. Despite possessing the talent for another Super Bowl run, the Eagles found themselves unable to replicate their previous success this time. The anticipation of defending their NFC title and revisiting the grand stage fell flat, leaving fans and observers perplexed.

The echoes of 2023 February’s near-victory and off-season moves were overshadowed by a season that rendered those factors inconsequential. However, it didn’t matter at all in 2024. Many would start to place the head coach as the scapegoat, but speaking in an exclusive interview with EssentiallySports, Joran Mailata didn’t share the same sentiment.

In an interview with EssentiallySports, Jordan Mailata praised the ways of Sirianni, who took a different route for his team, the Eagles. So, the host asked the offensive tackle what he felt about the head coach and asked him to share some personal experiences. Mailata didn’t have anything but love in his heart for the head coach.

Mailata believes Sirianni is one of the best coaches in the league, and he doesn’t think it’s fair to him if he gets blamed for the losses. Mailata said, “He got the short end of the stick, I think, you know, without with the blame to our season. Because you look at yeah there are a lot of times where players didn’t execute, myself included, and so it’s hard when you want to point the finger at someone. You can’t really do that. This is a team sport. You need everybody to do their way and do their job.

I think when the season ends the way it did, there has to be a finger pointed somewhere,” echoed tackle Mailata, reflecting the frustration of a season that nosedived from promise to disappointment. Questions linger: what went wrong, who’s accountable, and how do the Eagles avoid a repeat? Mailata answered, “That’s just how the cards are played. I don’t know what happened. Very rarely do they talk to us players about it. But when you see that kind of [losing] happening, somebody has to [go]. It’s the nature of the business.
