Being a fourth-round pick for the New York Jets has been a blessing in disguise for Braelon Allen. The 20-year-old will soon be a running back who might get to play besides the 4x MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Like many, getting to this point and making his NFL debut has been a tough journey for this Wisconsin RB.
Allen joined EssentiallySports in an exclusive interview and revealed all about his experience of making it to the NFL and acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead of him. One of those challenges was the injury that he suffered in the game against Ohio State last year. The unfortunate 24-10 loss to the No. 3 Ohio State came as a beneficial lesson for the young running back.

We asked the Jets’ new RB about the hit he took on the shovel pass in the final minute of the first half. “What’s the biggest lesson that you learned going through that recovery?” we asked the All-Big Ten Wisconsin RB. Allen played 11 games in the 2023 season and wasn’t happy about the games he missed out on due to the injury and recovery period.
“I think it would have to just be patience and, you know, understand, I think when you get hurt, you know, I’ve never really been injured. So, it’s kind of my first time, like, knowing that it’s probably going to be a couple games, a couple weeks missed. And that doesn’t really sit well with me,” said Allen.
But given the violent nature of the sport, Allen knew that an injury was imminent at some point in his career. However, the RB was committed to being healthy, even though his injury came at a crucial time in the Badgers’ season.
“Sometimes it’s going to be tough to, to get through a season 100%, you know, and at the time I felt like I was 100%. We were a little bit over the halfway point. So, when that happens, and especially in a game of that magnitude and we were so close, it was definitely difficult, to deal with at first. But yeah, like I said, just patience, you know, taking all the necessary precautions and, you know, do what you can to be healthy,” shared the RB about his situation.

Though being in full control of one’s physical injury is not possible, Braelon Allen could sure do something about how he felt on the outside. Looking fresh can do wonders for mental health and Head & Shoulders was responsible for some of it for the RB.
The Jets RB needs Head & Shoulders to stay sharp!
Braelon Allen’s 984 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns got him closer to an NIL deal with Head & Shoulders. We asked him why he chose to side with the hair care giant and the RB went on to express his love for the shampoo.

“It’s a staple in my daily life. You know, I use on a regular basis, keep my scalp healthy, keep my hair looking good and shining. And especially important, during the season, you know, when you’re in a helmet all day, every day, keeping yourself healthy. I love it,” admitted the RB about his hair care habits.
Now that Allen is all set to roll for the coming season, we can’t wait for him to step on the field and help the Jets to their long impending glory. What are your expectations from Allen’s addition to the Jets side? Let us know your thoughts below!
