The 2024 Super Bowl Parade incident in KC has left everyone shattered. Many celebrities, Chiefs staff, and sports analysts, all chimed in to display their condolence for the 22 affected victims, and express anger for the incident. The latest to share his thoughts on the Kansas City shooting is the former Super Bowl champion, Ryan Clark.
When the Kansas City Chiefs made history by winning over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, February 11, in an overtime game, the entire NFL was chanting their names as the champions. Patrick Mahomes and his team were all excited to meet their fans on the road parade, but the celebration turned into gunshots at the city’s historic Union Station. The tragic incident makes one wonder about what’s safe and what’s not.
On Friday’s episode of “The Pivot Podcast,” Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor, and Channing Crowder joined in to talk about the Kansas City parade shooting in their weekly segment. Clark expressed, “I could just simply imagine being in the place of the elation that there is at a Super Bowl Parade. I’ve been there the the way that people stack up just to get a glimpse of their favorite player to hope to pass a beer to Travis Kelce, to hug Isaiah Pacheco, to shake Patrick Mahomes’ hand, and then you hear gunshots rang out the children, women, and elderly people there.”

The former Pittsburgh Steelers’ safety pointed out the alarming situation in America, “It also gets to the point it’s like how many times I think it’s 48 shootings in like 46 days and we’re in an era in a generation…..where we undervalue the ability to make it home. No matter what I’ve been through, no matter where I’ve been, no matter what incident I’ve had, the thing I value is having the ability.” Clark expressed his sorrow and frustration mentioning how the joy and celebration were overshadowed by this incident.
Ryan Clark reflected on the broader issue of gun violence and the negative impact it cast on the moments of joy. The former NFL player added that after hearing the death & injury news, and children being harmed, for the Chiefs, “it almost makes you feel like damn we can’t ever be too happy because you’re always waiting for the next shoe to drop.”
The incident has left everyone stunned, and as Brittany addressed, “Super Bowl wins will never be the same because of this, it’s devastating.” Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes and his wife are standing strong beside their community in this tough time.
