‘When they didn’t have a plot, how did they expect to gather a crew in the first place?’ So, the Jets? You’d think being in the Big Apple would mean having it all together, right? But nope. As if a 4-10 record and the season circling the drain weren’t enough, the drama keeps piling up. First, Woody Johnson canned Robert Saleh after just a 2-3 start, which, let’s be honest, felt more like scapegoating—hey, Aaron Rodgers, we are looking at you—than strategy. Fast forward to now, Dan Orlovsky is failing to believe what this front office is up to.

Here’s the kicker: reports are surfacing that Johnson nixed a trade for Jerry Jeudy because of his Madden rating. Yes, you read that right—Madden. The video game. Cue in the drum rolls. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini dropped the bombshell, saying Johnson thought Jeudy’s rating was too low for the Jets to bother trading for him. And you know what that means—chaos in the front office.

Sources are pointing fingers at Johnson’s impulsive micromanagement as the main reason the Jets can’t seem to get it together. Dan Orlovsky summed it up best: “lol this can’t be real life lol.” Honestly, same, Dan.

Let’s back up for a second. According to The Athletic’s deep dive, GM Joe Douglas was in talks with the Broncos, but Johnson reportedly shut it down because of a video game stat. And guess what? The same Jeudy went on to record his first ever 1000+ YDs season. But what’s even more ironic is the fact that he managed to do that in Cleveland.

Now, imagine him as an additional weapon for A-Rod. Cook? We cannot really say for sure. But that’s another ‘What if’ moment, and it’s weird because that’s been the theme of the Cowboys under Jerry Jones. It seems like Johson might be taking notes from JJ and all the wrong ones.

Now, if that doesn’t scream “Jets dysfunction,” what does? Oh! We’ll tell you what does because a lot has been going on with the Gang Green, and this was just one of them.

The Jets dysfunction under Woody Johnson ft. Aaron Rodgers

Jets' decisions based on Madden ratings—are they playing football or just a game of chance?

Have an interesting take?

It’s like their game plan isn’t even on the field—it’s stuck in the controller. I mean, Woody loves some games, right? But that’s where he went amiss… You don’t play games when it comes to Aaron Rodgers. Sure, this season has not been the perfect representation of the AR12 from back in the day. But off-the-field antics? That’s never going away.

Right from being called a DIVA for throwing shades on Saleh. And even though he cleared it, people still think it must be Rodgers’ hand in Saleh’s sacking… But that’s what you call a hearsay. It’s anybody’s guess at the moment as to what’s going on behind the curtains. For us, the onscreen representation and execution should matter, and that’s not been there either.

Take Halloween night, for example. The Jets finally won a game after Saleh’s firing, and Rodgers, holding the game ball, was ready for a feel-good locker room moment. But nope. In storms Woody’s son, Brick Johnson, with another game ball, and chaos ensues. Garrett Wilson got the ball, Ulbrich got Rodgers’ ball, and the locker room energy? Gone. ‘Awkward’ doesn’t even cover it.

Then there’s Rodgers himself. Torn Achilles, brutal rehab, and still, the guy’s trying to come back. But instead of letting him do his thing, Johnson insists Rodgers practice with the team. Rodgers didn’t mince words: “I didn’t feel like I needed to practice… but obviously I got overruled.” Yep, that’s the kind of leadership we’re working with here.

See, no one’s trying to cover these numbers—23 TDs and 8 INTs over 3,255 yards in 14 games this season. That by no means is MVP-esque when you see what the likes of Joe BurrowJosh AllenJared Goff, and Co. have been cooking. But bear in mind we are talking about a 41-year-old when we are mentioning A-Rod’s numbers. And in a deadbeat Gang, those numbers show that he has done the job from under center.

Even so, by no means do these stats deserve him getting benched. Well, remember that Johnson’s leaked notion to, maybe, bench Rodgers? Yeah, that’s how wild it has been in New York of late. We don’t know for sure if Rodgers will be here for the third season. But it’s clear the issues run deeper than coaching or players. It’s a culture thing, and it starts at the top.
