Is Aaron Rodgers' leadership enough to steer the Jets out of their current chaos?

Another wrinkle could be seen in the Jets’ locker room soon. This New York team has been facing a topsy-turvy situation since last year. Now coach Robert Saleh’s firing and Nathaniel Hackett’s demotion have added nothing but the fire to the flame in the organization. Hence, in order to fix all these, quarterback Aaron Rodgers has decided to step up. But the former NFL GM has suggested that this stepping up might begin from a trade of the team’s $14.5 million mess!

As per reports, Ex-NFL GM Jeff Diamond predicted that the Lions might acquire Haason Reddick. He suggested the Jets should trade the linebacker, especially when he is showing concerns in his commitment. This is because Reddick, who wants about $15 million, has been absent from the team activities since the trade by the Eagles on March 29. Hence, it’s better to trade him off to a team that needs him, such as the Lions.

As a result, it could solve the tricky situation for the NY Jets. This is because, according to NFL Network’s reporter Mike Garafolo on X, “The #Jets will take on $14.5 million of Haason Reddick’s compensation for 2024, the final year of his deal. The #Eagles foot the bill on the $1 million roster bonus that was due earlier this month. The hope is the sides work out a new deal soon.”

Currently, Haason Reddick’s hefty salary of $14.25 million for 2024 adds pressure to the team’s salary cap. By trading him, the Jets could alleviate this financial strain and potentially gain valuable draft picks or players in return. And who could be a better team than the Lions to trade him? It is because, as per Diamond, Detroitcould acquire Reddick to bolster their struggling pass defense.”

At present, the team’s defense stands at 27th in the league. Therefore, the team could acquire him as their strong weapon, especially when they “possess over $40 million in cap space and may only need to part with a fourth or fifth-round draft pick to facilitate the deal.” And on the other hand, the Jets could be able to stick easily to what their captain, Aaron Rodgers said.
