Home/NFL

The last time Jalen Hurts and his team were close to bringing Lombardi to Philadelphia was the 2022-23 season. They lost Super Bowl LVII by just three points (35-38) against the Chiefs. After two years, they have the golden opportunity to erase that painful memory and achieve greatness. But there is a catch. Something has changed for the Eagles ahead of the Super Bowl LIX. During the ‘Inside the NFL’ show, former Eagles star Chris Long discussed the Super Bowl alongside Bill Belichick, Jameis Winston, and others. Talking about the Eagles’ offensive line, which is one of the best in the NFL right now, Long dropped a crazy take, indirectly a homework assignment.

Long said, “I think it’s a great point you saw in the game. Jurgens had a back. Landon had a knee and they were both kind of rotating in and out.” Speaking of the problems that these knocks have caused, he added, “When Jurgens was out and Dickerson had to play center, they had trouble picking up protections. So that’s one thing going against a Spagnuolo’s defense is very important.” That’s a great explanation of the NFL’s top-ranked defense’s problems. Making things worse, there’s sad news involving Cam Jurgens and Landon Dickerson.

But before we dive into the injury report, it’s important to notice that Steve Spagnuolo‘s defense includes George Karlaftis, Chris Jones, Mike Danna, and so on, who are some of the fiercest in the league. The Eagles’ defense is also extremely efficient, they are trained by the excellent defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, who has done a he-k of a job to upgrade them to Championship-winning caliber this year.

But…there’s one impediment that could stop Jalen Hurts’ team from winning Super Bowl LIX. Pesky injuries.

Jalen Hurts’ Eagles carry many injury concerns

The Eagles‘ third injury report out of a total of six carried a total of 15 names! Brandon Graham, Kenny Gainwell, Britain Covey, and C.J. Uzomah were listed as “Questionable” for the game after Friday’s practice. However, there’s a silver lining. Among them, only Gainwell was listed as DNP, while Uzomah took part in full practice and the other two were limited practice participants.

But at the same time, more of Jalen Hurts’ teammates were categorized as DNP with their game status “Unspecified”. That long list includes Zack Baun, DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, Dallas Goedert, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and Eli Ricks. But don’t be scared at seeing Barkley’s and Brown’s names on the list. They have both simply been rested! The good part of the update is Moro Ojomo and Brett Toth joined Uzomah on the list of full participants.

What’s your perspective on:

Can the injury-plagued Eagles overcome the odds and snatch victory from the Chiefs' healthy squad?

Have an interesting take?

If we look at the injury reports of their opponents, the Chiefs, reports suggest, ‘The Chiefs’ active roster is entirely healthy.’ Andy Reid‘s side have greatly benefited from the bye week they earned as the top seed in the AFC. But officially, they have 5 players on the list, including Patrick Mahomes. The QB has been FP for all three practice sessions, though, so it’s not a concern at all.
