Are the Cowboys closer to a rebuild than a Super Bowl? What do you think?

Dallas Cowboys came into week 6 riding on consecutive wins. Bam! They fell and went through the ground. Detroit Lions had made some powerful plans. When they put them into action, fans couldn’t believe what they were seeing. Lions outplayed the America’s team in each department, be it offense or defense. Jerry Jones looked like he wanted to run away and head coach Mike McCarthy has come under fire.

Former Cowboys DE Chris Canty questioned how much authority the head coach has over the team and said, “The way that those guys play that they don’t respect Mike McCarthy. There was a visual yesterday. Mike McCarthy on the sidelines in the 4th quarter and he just said ‘oh wow’. They got smoked 47-9.” That’s a big revelation and a sad truth.

Each locker room member knows Jerry Jones is the decision maker. And he doesn’t take Mike McCarthy seriously. It has shown time after time. During the offseason, McCarthy was never aware of the progress when Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb‘s contracts were being discussed. Be it signing a contract extension or letting go of any player, Jones is the one who decides everything. He shows up for media interviews and takes more credit than Mike McCarthy.

Cowboys are in a mess, which they have to fix themselves. Canty claimed the team was closer to a rebuild than a championship. He further added that the locker room ‘disrespects‘ him and mentioned, “If you’re the head coach in that spot, what else can you say? The players have more security than you do. Dak Prescott has more swing in the organization than you do.

While Jones was celebrating his 82nd birthday on 13 October, the team gave him a gift he would never forget. A 47-9 loss! The Lions were scoring at free will. One glance at the stats show the massive difference in the teams. While Prescott had 17 of 33 passes with 178 yards and 2 interceptions, His counterpart Jared Goff completed 18 of 25 passes with 315 yards and 3 touchdowns. The America’s team couldn’t even score one touchdown.

The owner needs to take a long, hard look at his team. However, considering Jones is 82 years old, any change in the strategy might never happen.

Have an interesting take?

Will Jerry Jones fire Mike McCarthy after the humiliating loss?

If you are wondering how big of a loss this was and how bad the Cowboys have been this season, here are two interesting facts. The 47-9 loss against the Lions was the biggest loss America’s team has ever suffered in a game without securing a touchdown. Also, in 8 home games last season (in 2023), the team conceded 127 points, but in 3 home games this year, they have already allowed 119 points. Both the owner and the coach are stunned at the result.

While Jerry Jones looked dejected after the defeat, he still had Mike McCarthy’s back. When he was asked about a change in coach, the owner said, “Oh, I haven’t even considered that. I’m not considering that. Just so you’re clear, I’m not considering that.” That must have felt like a big relief to the coach. But it’s not. Let’s explain why we say so.

This is the last year of his contract with the Cowboys. Ever since joining the team in 2020, the coach has taken them to playoffs twice, but they couldn’t advance to the Super Bowl. If the team doesn’t make a turnaround, this might be his last year.

The loss has sent shockwaves across the fans of America’s team. Though they didn’t win, the manner of the loss was more disappointing. Immediate changes might be on the way. Jerry Jones is known to keep his cards close to his chest.
