0-2 and the struggle continues for the Denver Broncos! After its humiliating 26-20 loss against the Seattle Seahawks, the Broncos have again crumbled down to another shameful 13-6 loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers. This has been such a turbulent start for the team and many are now questioning head coach Sean Payton’s offensive tactics and strategies. One such person is ex-Broncos linebacker and Super Bowl winner Todd Davis, who after the defeat against the Steelers, has questioned the head coach’s offensive decisions.

In the DNVR Broncos post-game podcast’s latest episode, the former linebacker raised questioned Payton’s offensive decision of playing young Bo Nix. Davis said, “Unfortunately yes, Bo Nix has to be at the top of the list. And I know he is a rookie we need to give him a bit of a leeway, but as of right now, the multiple interceptions that the drive stoppers and the inability to find open receivers are the two main reasons behind the Broncos’ current results.”

Apart from Bo Nix’s performance, Davis also mentioned the passes dropped by the open receivers to be another major concern for the team as it disrupts its momentum. The Ex-Super Bowl winner said, “You look at when it occurs, it always stops the drive. Like any time we feel that the ball is rolling, or the team is on the heal, that’s when we choose to drop the ball.”

Following the game on Sunday, during the post-game interview, Payton himself took a share of the blame for the Broncos’ ongoing offensive woes. The head coach said that it was time for the team to reevaluate their strategies, their decision of players and their suitable positions, and frequently rotating personnel groups in and out.

Bo Nix trivializes Broncos’ offensive struggle against the Steelers

In the post-game interview, Bo Nix sounded pretty optimistic even after the team’s other crushing 13-6 defeat against the Steelers. Addressing the media, the rookie QB said, “I got good confidence. I think I’ll continue to get better and look in the mirror and see what I can do and evaluate myself.”  The 24-year-old seemed to be keeping his mind cool, and not taking things too seriously as Nix continued, “Football’s just a game that we come out here and have fun playing. We make it a very big deal because sometimes it is.”

In Sunday’s game, Nix completed 20 of 35 passes for 246 yards. However, that’s just one side of the coin. The moans and groans were pretty audible from the stands when the fans witnessed two interceptions, including one pick in the end zone, which reminded them of the Broncos’ offensive woes from last season.

Even though the young QB tried to downplay the team’s offensive struggle, it’s surely a point of concern for Sean Payton and Co. as they get deeper into the regular season. The team will be on the road to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 22 (Sunday) and it hopes to resolve its offensive problems and get back to winning ways at the Raymond James Stadium.
